Hey Everyone 👋,
Ever wondered what sets successful SAT takers apart? It’s not just about being smart; it's about having the right habits. Let's dive into the top 5 habits for successful SAT takers and how they can transform your teen's prep journey.
1️⃣ Start Early:
Successful SAT takers don’t wait until the last minute. Starting early allows time to master each concept thoroughly. Think of it like planting a tree—the earlier you start, the stronger it grows. With the Math Guru Method, we begin with a complete diagnostic to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, ensuring every study minute is impactful.
2️⃣ Focus on Weaknesses:
Successful students focus on their weaknesses, not just their strengths. They target their study efforts where they need it most. Our targeted skill enhancement ensures your teen can focus on their weakest areas, turning them into strengths over time.
3️⃣ Develop Strong Physical and Mental Habits:
Successful SAT takers understand the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health. They follow disciplined schedules that balance study with adequate rest, nutrition, and exercise. The Math Guru Method emphasizes creating healthy routines that support sustained focus and peak performance.
4️⃣ Practice Like It’s the Real Thing:
Regular practice under real test conditions builds confidence and reduces anxiety. Successful SAT takers simulate the test environment to manage time, understand the test format, and handle pressure better. Our Success Simulation prepares your teen both academically and mentally, making test day a breeze.
5️⃣ Create a Winning Environment:
Being part of a supportive community can make a huge difference. Continuous feedback from coaches and a community of like-minded students keeps motivation high. At Geometry Gurus, we foster a winning environment that encourages your teen to push their limits and achieve their best.

How do you think your teen did on the June SAT?
Trying to gauge interest... Would any parents be interested in a mock proctored SAT math session that simulates the actual test?
Parents, let’s tackle the age-old question.
How soon should my teen start studying for the SAT?
This is a question I get asked a lot and the answer is always: The sooner, the better. 📚
Here's why starting early can make all the difference:
🎯 Early Start, Big Gains:
Time to Build Mastery: Starting early allows your teen to master each concept thoroughly. It's like planting a tree—the earlier you start, the stronger it grows. The Math Guru Method starts with a complete diagnostic to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, ensuring every study minute is impactful.
Reduced Stress: Cramming leads to burnout and anxiety. Early preparation means spreading out the study load, which reduces stress and makes learning more enjoyable. Our targeted skill enhancement ensures your teen can focus on their weakest areas, turning them into strengths over time.
Strategic Skill Building: Effective use of technology and shortcuts, like Desmos, is crucial. We teach your teen how to leverage these tools efficiently, saving valuable time on the test. This isn't just about knowing the math—it's about knowing how to approach the test strategically.
Confidence Through Simulation: Regular test simulations help build confidence and reduce test-day anxiety. When your teen practices under real test conditions, they learn to manage time, understand the test format, and handle pressure better. This holistic preparation is key to scoring higher.
A Winning Environment: Continuous feedback from coaches and a community of like-minded students create a supportive, motivating environment. Your teen isn't just learning in isolation—they're part of a team aiming for excellence.
💡 How the Math Guru Method Excels:
Discover and Enhance: We start with a complete diagnostic to identify your teen's strengths and weaknesses, ensuring efficient learning.
Apply and Practice: Using real SAT problems, we provide laser-targeted practice and feedback, making learning engaging and effective.
Simulate Success: Regular test simulations prepare your teen both academically and mentally, reducing anxiety and building confidence.

All Great SAT Programs MUST Do These Five Things:
And no, it’s not that your teen needs more 1:1s, more group sessions, more practice problems… Let’s dive right into it.
1️⃣ Personalized Diagnostics:
A great SAT program begins with a detailed diagnostic to identify your teen’s strengths and weaknesses. This step ensures that every minute spent studying is focused on areas that need improvement, rather than wasting time on concepts your teen already knows. The Math Guru Method starts here, customizing our approach to fit your teen's unique needs.
2️⃣ Targeted Skill Enhancement:
It’s not enough to just cover SAT content broadly. Effective programs focus on strategic skill enhancement, providing targeted practice that addresses specific weaknesses. Our method uses real SAT problems to provide laser-targeted practice and feedback, ensuring your teen masters each concept before moving on.
3️⃣ Effective Use of Technology and Shortcuts:
Understanding how to use shortcuts and tools like Desmos can be a game-changer when paired with conceptual learning. A top-notch program will teach your teen how to leverage these tools efficiently, saving valuable time during the test. Under-relying on these tools means missing out on easy points. We ensure our students are tech-savvy and ready.
4️⃣ Holistic Preparation:
A great program addresses not only academic skills but also test-taking strategies and stress management techniques. Ignoring these aspects can lead to underperformance, regardless of how well your teen knows the material. Our Success Simulation prepares your teen both academically and mentally, making test day a breeze. This holistic approach ensures they can manage their time effectively, understand the test format, and know when to skip questions.
5️⃣ A Winning Environment:
Your teen needs constant feedback and a supportive environment to thrive. A great SAT program provides ongoing support from coaches, even outside of class, and fosters a community of like-minded students. This winning environment motivates your teen to push their limits and achieve their best.
💡 How the Math Guru Method Excels:
1. Discover and Enhance: We start with a complete diagnostic to identify your teen's strengths and weaknesses, ensuring efficient learning.

Parents always wonder why their son/daughter performs really well in the diagnostics but not on the actual test...
Well how do they do the diagnostics?
"Well she listens to music with the TV on in the background while her little brother pokes at her with a stick. Sometimes she takes the whole day to do it, but she understands it!"
Obviously that's an exaggeration, but just like in sports, if you don't practice in a test-like environment with similar pressures as the actual test, there's absolutely no way that they are going to get the results that they want.
Parents! What questions/guides would you like answered on SAT Math?

Hey Everyone 👋,
Let's talk about something crucial: The Top 5 Most Common SAT Math Mistakes Parents Make. Understanding these can make a world of difference in your teen's prep journey.
1️⃣ Starting Too Late:
Waiting until the last minute to begin SAT prep is a common mistake. Starting early allows ample time to identify weaknesses, master concepts, and build confidence. Don't let procrastination limit your teen's potential.
2️⃣ Pushing for Quantity Over Quality
Many parents believe more practice tests and problems equal better scores. But it’s about quality, not quantity. Doing endless problems without addressing weaknesses only leads to a false sense of security. Focus on mastering concepts and weaknesses before diving into more practice.
3️⃣ Under-Reliance on Calculators/Shortcuts:
Since the new Digital SAT Math uses Desmos, it is now more important than ever to encourage your teen to learn how to use it. If your teen neglects how to use the calculator/shortcuts, they will lose valuable time on the test from trying to brute force problems.
4️⃣ Ignoring Time Management:
Time management isn't a crutch; it’s a skill. The SAT isn't just about math skills; it’s also about strategy. Managing time, understanding the test format, and knowing when to skip questions are crucial. Without strategy, even the brightest students can struggle.
5️⃣ Neglecting Test Anxiety:
Anxiety can be a silent score killer. Many parents overlook this, focusing only on academics. Building confidence through simulated test experiences and stress-management techniques is essential for success.
💡 How the Math Guru Method Helps:
1. Discover and Enhance: We start with a complete diagnostic to identify your teen's strengths and weaknesses. This targeted approach ensures efficient learning, focusing on areas that need the most attention.
2. Apply and Practice: Using real SAT problems, we provide laser-targeted practice and feedback. This approach ensures your teen masters each concept before moving on, making learning engaging and effective.
3. Simulate Success: Regular test simulations prepare your teen not just academically but also mentally, reducing anxiety and building confidence for test day.

How did your teen do on the May 4th SAT? Results should be out for everyone!
As an instructor, you aim to have your students surpass you. A few days ago in class, my student Yein did a trigonometry problem in 30 seconds using a trick that I taught her... I missed the shortcut and had to do it the long way lol. She laughed at me for the rest of the session but it was such a proud moment for me

Here’s why your teen should focus on learning one SAT topic at a time, Math or English, instead of juggling both.
Ever wonder why your teen’s SAT prep isn’t getting the results you hoped for? The answer might be simpler than you think: focus. 📚
🎯 Why One SAT Topic at a Time?
1. Laser Focus: Concentrating on either Math or English helps your teen dive deep into one subject, mastering it thoroughly before moving on. It’s like training for a marathon by focusing on running, rather than splitting time between running and cycling.
2. Reduce Overwhelm: Preparing for both Math and English simultaneously can be overwhelming and stressful. By focusing on one subject, your teen can absorb the material better, leading to higher retention and understanding.
3. Efficient Learning: Focusing on one subject allows your teen to make consistent progress, building momentum and confidence. This approach prevents the scattershot learning that comes from trying to tackle too much at once.
💡 How the Math Guru Method Helps:
1. Discover and Enhance: We begin with a detailed diagnostic to pinpoint your teen’s strengths and weaknesses. This targeted approach ensures we have laser focus on whatever topics that your teen needs help with, maximizing learning efficiency.
2. Apply and Practice: Using real SAT problems, we provide laser-targeted practice and feedback. This ensures your teen grasps and masters each concept before moving on.
3. Simulate Success: Regular test simulations help your teen build confidence and reduce anxiety. By focusing on one SAT topic, they are not only prepared academically but also mentally ready for the exam.
Why settle for scattered study methods that dilute your teen’s efforts? The Math Guru Method focuses on targeted, efficient learning so that they can secure admission to their dream colleges without the stress and burnout of traditional prep methods.

🌟 The Top 5 Most Frequently Asked Questions About the Digital SAT Math Section
Hello, Parents and Students! 👋
Navigating the Digital SAT Math Section can seem like a daunting task. Here are the answers to the top 5 questions we often hear, demystifying the process and showing how the Math Guru Method can turn challenges into opportunities.
1️⃣ How is the digital SAT math section different from the paper one? Is it harder?
The math concepts of the DSAT are pretty much exactly the same as they always have been. The DSAT is now adaptive and broken into two modules. Everyone sees the same first module. If you do well on the first module, then you get a harder second module. If you don’t do well, you get an easier second module. Of course, with the harder module, you are able to earn a higher score.
2️⃣ How can I learn to manage my time effectively on the digital version?
When practicing, time yourself per problem instead of focusing on timing the entire test. On average, you have 95 seconds per problem. Some take shorter, some take longer, but in general, you want to take less than 60 seconds for the easier questions.
If you can tell that you are stuck, skip it and come back, always keep moving! Try your best and see all the questions on the exam since they don’t always put the hardest questions last. You will find questions that are easier for you and you’ll achieve a higher score.
Also, do not overuse practice tests. I have a whole training on this, just click here.
3️⃣ What are pound for pound the most important topics to learn for the exam?
Geometry, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 make up essentially the entire test. More specifically, functions, quadratics, trigonometry, and analyzing word problems. These are usually the most commonly missed. And no, you don’t need to be done with precalculus to do the SAT.
4️⃣ What resources can I use to practice for the digital SAT at home?
The College Board is still going to have the most useful resources since they actually wrote the test. Use the non-adaptive tests to test yourself conceptually and use the Bluebook tests to simulate test day. This means, don’t exit the app, don’t take breaks, and don’t look at your notes.
5️⃣ How do I prepare for the exam?
1) Diagnose your weaknesses so you can make a tailored learning plan and avoid spending too much time on stuff you already know.
2) Use real SAT questions that mimic the same problems that you miss. Get consistent feedback from an expert on where you need to improve so you evolve your strategy based on where you’re at. Learn the shortcuts and how to use Desmos!
3) Practice like it’s test day. Simulate the SAT environment when doing practice tests and time yourself per question so you are prepared for the mental aspects of the exam.
4) Surround yourself in a winning environment with like-minded individuals

🌟 The Truth About SAT Prep Courses: Not All Are Created Equal 🌟
Hey Everyone 👋,
When it comes to SAT prep, many parents believe that any prep course will do, whether it’s a budget-friendly option or a well-known brand like Princeton Review. However, this isn't always the best path. Here's what you need to know:
🚫 Cheap SAT Prep: You Get What You Pay For.
It’s tempting to save money with free or low-cost SAT prep solutions. They’re cheap for a reason. These options often provide a one-size-fits-all approach with outdated materials and insufficient personal attention. Such services do not address specific student needs, leading to subpar improvements and wasted time.
Think about it this way: how truly committed can someone be to your teen for $20 an hour? As these tutors often don’t know what they’re doing, they compensate for this with low prices to attract more customers.
💸 Big Brands Aren’t Always Better
While big brands promise significant score improvements, their large classes and standardized instruction often fail to deliver personalized guidance. These options typically follow a rigid schedule, offering no flexibility for students who are falling behind or are light years ahead. Despite their higher cost, these courses might not cater effectively to your teen's unique learning style or pinpoint their exact weaknesses since these places maximize profits by having groups as big as possible. .
💡 Why the Math Guru Method Stands Out
1. Discover and Enhance: Unlike generic courses, our method begins with a detailed diagnostic to uncover each student’s unique challenges and strengths. This tailored approach ensures we focus exactly where your teen needs the most help.
2. Apply and Practice: We use real SAT problems and personalized feedback to reinforce learning directly applicable to your teen's requirements. This targeted practice ensures efficient use of study time and genuine score improvement
3. Simulate Success: More than just learning strategies, we simulate the SAT environment to boost confidence and reduce test day anxiety. This preparation is critical for success, far beyond what most large-scale prep courses offer.
🚀 Choose Smart, Not Just Big
The right SAT prep course can make a tremendous difference in your teen’s college prospects. It’s about more than just learning math; it’s about mastering the strategies that lead to success.
🌟 Are you ready for a program that truly understands and addresses your teen’s needs? Want to avoid the pitfalls of ineffective mass-market courses?
