🛑 *A Monk of the Ramakrishna Mission was being interviewed by a journalist from NY.* 🛑
The journalist started
interviewing the Monk as planned earlier.
*Journalist* - "Sir, in your last lecture, you told us about Jogajog (Contact) and Sanjog (Connection). It's really confusing. Can you explain?"
*The Monk smiled and apparently deviating from the question asked the journalist:*
"Are you from New York?"
Journalist: "Yeah..."
Monk: "Who are there at home?"
The Journalist felt that the Monk was trying to avoid answering his question since this was a very personal and unwarranted question. Yet the journalist said: "Mother has expired. Father is there. Three brothers and one sister. All married..."
The Monk, with a smile on his face, asked again: "Do you talk to your father?"
The journalist looked visibly annoyed...
The Monk, "When did you talk to him last?"
The journalist, supressing his annoyance said: "May be a month ago."
The Monk: "Do you brothers and sisters meet often? When did you meet last as a family gathering?"
At this point, sweat appeared on the forehead of the journalist. Now who is conducting the interview, the Monk or the Journalist.
It seemed that the Monk was interviewing the Journalist.
With a sigh, the Journalist said: "We met last at Christmas two years ago."
The Monk: "How many days did you all stay together?"
The Journalist (wiping the sweat on his brow) said: "Three days..."
Monk: "How much time did you spend with your Father, sitting right beside him?"
The journalist looking perplexed and embarassed and started scribbling something on a paper...
The Monk: "Did you have breakfast, lunch or dinner together? Did you ask how he was? Did you ask how his days are passing after your mother's death?"
Drops of tears coming out started to flow from the eyes of the journalist.
The Monk held the hand of the journalist and said: "Don't be embrassed, upset or sad. I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly... But this is basically the answer to your question about "Contact and Connection (Jogajog and Sanjog)." You have 'Contact' with your father but you don't have 'Connection' with him. You are not connected to him. Connection is between heart and heart... Sitting together, Sharing meals and Caring for each other, Touching, Shaking hands, Having eye contact, Spending some time together... You brothers and sisters have 'Contact' but you have no 'Connection' with each other..."
The journalist wiped his eyes and said : "Thanks for teaching me a fine and unforgettable lesson."
This is the reality today.
Whether at home or in the society everybody has lots of contacts but there is no connection. No communication... Everybody is in his or her own world.
Let us not maintain just "Contacts" but let us remain "Connected." Caring, Sharing and Spending time with all our dear ones.

This morning (evening of US) Mr Amit Chakma, probably below 10, has enquired me if I got recovered from my sickness. This really touched my heart, taught a lesson too to be supportive with sick people at least morally.
He is so responsible and caring along with cute, adorable, talkative and smartness. He also expressed that he missed and missing me a lot. He wished if I could go to them soon.
It's exactly one and half month by today while I'm lying on bed because of shooting pain, sciatic problem, nerves compression, disc bulgeness, bone degeneration etc.
I didn't lose my hope of recovery yet. It's only the matter of finding good doctors and getting perfect treatment from a promising hospital somewhere in India or abroad.
I will be updating the episode of my sickness once I get healed completely. Please keep me in your prayers & sharing of wholesome deeds.

N.B. Being a monk (single and unmarried), I couldn't be a father of a son or daughter but definitely I can ba a master or preceptor (Upajjhāya) of a disciple who will be equal to my son. So I'm looking for one obedient.

Most of the people spends crores of money on their children's medical doctor or engineering studies but when it comes to the treatment of an illness and erecting a building respectively, they go to other doctor and engineer; but not to their own son/daughter.
This is very common & apparent nature of most human beings (Esp. Chang Ma tun bej aagey aei sobappani. E.g. Bimanor Jyoti)

TUSITAPURI BANA VIHARA & MEDITATION CENTRE; The one and only forest meditation centre of forest tradition in Tripura, India is striving hard to have it's establishment and give the practical form of it's fullest implementation of a well equipped perennial meditation centre.
This centre is located in Nabincherra under Pecharthal police station of Unakoti district, Tripura covering a huge area of land, approximately 50 acres. It is a perfect place for solitude; neither too far nor too close to village. The land can be turned into one of the most tourist attractive places in Tripura Buddhist Circuit if some money are invested. The 109ft Buddha statue which is under construction, monastic structures, small hills, plateau and lakes are it's main source of attraction and fascination.
There are still a lot to do like building a large meditation hall, main shrine/temple, cottage for monks and lay meditators, dining hall, kitchen, setting up of a water purifier as the water has excessive brown substance, solar panel in order to be free from frequent electricity cut off and disruption etc.

🇮🇩 An Indonesian monk asked, "Is there a difference between the property that should be abandoned (Nissaggiyavatthu) and the property that is gained through the wrong way of earning (Anesanavatthu)?"
🇲🇲 Yes, there is.
Nissaggiyavatthu means the properties which arise from gold, silver, money, etc. accepted through the non-allowable way by a monk or a novice. They aren’t allowable for the monks and novices, so they should be abandoned without attachment before a confession is made.
If they aren’t abandoned without attachment, the confession is made with the intention of avoiding in the future, but the offense doesn’t disappear. If Nissaggiyavatthu is abandoned without attachment to it and regained, it's allowable to reuse.
However, it's unallowable to reuse if Anesanavatthu is abandoned without attachment to it and regained. Anesanavatthu means the properties which arise from a monk’s giving of the flower, fruit, etc. to the unallowable lay people, his doing as a messenger, curing, fortune-telling, flattering lay people, carrying a baby in his arms, and so on. His bad behaviors damage the devotees' faith, so they’re the wrong ways of earning.
For example, when a monk gives a flower to a girl, she becomes fond of him. She doesn’t want to offer the monks who don’t give anything. Then she loses her faith in the virtuous monks. His behavior damages her real faith.
Those properties aren’t allowable for the monks and novices, so it is useless to keep living in the town or village where he takes the wrong way of earning. Why? Because the use of Anesanavatthu causes the Dukkața offense.
After confessing that offense, he must move from that town or village to another town or village from where he can't return on the same day. If he mustn’t, he’ll be expelled from the monastery according to the monastic rule.

About rains-retreat/Buddhist lent in brief:
Q: did the Buddha laid down rains retreat for Monks??
A: At one time , the Blessed one was staying at Rajagaha in the Bamboo Grove at the squirrels feeding place (kelandaka nivapa). Now at that time the use of a rains-residence, for monks had not come to be laid down by the Buddha. So the monks walked on tour during the winter season/cold weather (hemanta utu), the summer season/hot weather (Gimhana Utu) and the rainy season (vassa utu).
People looked down upon, criticised, spread it about, saying: "How can these recluses(monks), Sons of the Sakyans(Buddha), walk on tour during the cold weather and the hot weather and the rains, trampling down the crops and grasses, injuring/damaging the life that is one-facultied and bringing many small creatures to destruction? Even those members of other sects, whose rules are badly kept, cling to and prepare a rains residence. Even these birds, having made their nests in the tree-tops, cling to and prepare a rains-residence, while these recluses, Sons of the Sakyans walk on a tour during the cold weather and the hot weather and the rains, trampling down the crops and grasses, injuring the life that is one-facultied and bringing many small creatures to destruction?" Monks heard these people's saying who spread it about. Then these monks told this matter to the Buddha. Then the Lord Buddha, on this occasion, in this connection, having given reasoned talk, addressed the monks, saying: "I allow you, monks, to enter upon the rains."
are two periods for beginning the rains:
(1). Purimika (the earlier): The earlier may be entered upon the day after the full moon of Asalhi, the first three months of rainy season, from 1st day of Savana to the full moon day of Assayuja.
(2). Pacchimika: (the later): The later one entered upon the rains a month after the full moon of Asalhi, the second three months of rainy season from 1st day of potthapada to the full moon day of kattika.
#√√There are two ways or method to enter upon the rains;
(1). Vacibheda (by verbal action): "Imasmim vihāre imam temāsam vassam Upemi {3 times}: (I will enter upon the rains in this monastery for the whole three months).
[2]. Alayapariggāha (by intention): "Idha vassam upemi" (I enter upon the rains here).
Q: can set out or not during the rains-retreat??
A: The Buddha having given reasoned talk, addressed the monks saying: "I allow you, monks, to go if you are sent for by one of the seven classes of people and if the business can be done in seven days, but not if you are not sent for by seven classes of people."
Q: , What are the seven classes of people? namely;
A: 1. Bhikkhu = monk
2. Bhikkhūni = nuns
3. Samanera = novice
4. Samaneri = female novice
5. Sikkhamana = probationer
6. Upasakā = male lay-follower
7. Upasikā = female lay-follower.
If those anyone of the seven classes of people invite together with one of the three reasons or causes to monk, a monk, having entered upon the rains, can set out on tour or can travel on during the rains retreats also.
The three reasons are:
1. Danam datum = to give a gift or donation;
2. Dhammam sotum = to hear dhamma;
3. Bhikku passitum = to see the monks.
May there be light of the Buddha's noble teachings in every corner of the world !!!

"There was a woman who came to meditate at the monastery several years back when Ajaan Fuang was still alive. She was a friend of one of the women who cooked in the kitchen. And the woman in the kitchen told Ajaan Fuang that this friend had a particular problem. Every time she tried to meditate, her body would start shaking uncontrollably.
So the night she meditated with us in the chedi, sure enough, she started shaking. Ajaan Fuang had a student who was quite psychic and he told her to look into what was happening. She saw two beings behind the woman, shaking her. And to make a very long story short, she found out these had been the parents of this woman in a previous lifetime. She had killed them in that lifetime — this was a very long time ago — and they didn’t like the idea that by meditating she might get out of their grasp.
So Ajaan Fuang’s student asked them, “What do you want? What could she do that would satisfy you?” And then they said, “If she could help build a Buddha image and dedicate the merit to us, that would satisfy us.” It so happened that we were building a Buddha image at the monastery at the time. So Ajaan Fuang told the student, “You can’t say anything to her about this. Otherwise, it’ll look like we’re trying to squeeze money out of her.” But a couple of years later, someone else was building a Buddha image and she participated in that — and the shaking stopped.
We don’t know who we’ve got in our past or what we’ve done in our past. So it’s always a good idea to dedicate merit just in case, to pay off some old debts."
