From all of us at KACS, We wish you a blessed Merry Christmas!

KACS Older 2YRO children practiced their fine motor skills today at their art center making a Christmas ornament. They placed thin and fine squares of colored tissue paper onto their sticky paper which they will later post onto their classroom windows. When the sun shines thru, the children will be able to observe the brightness of their work from the warm sun.

This month for Character Essentials, our KACS PK5 students are learning about "Thoughtfulness."

Learning the meaning behind demonstrating thoughtfulness can be an abstract concept for children at this age. This month they will focus to understand that being thoughtful means to think about what someone else needs and then do something to help him or her.

The children made "smile cards" to give to others as an act of thoughtfulness. The children created their personalized letters with the word Smile and distributed them to the teachers throughout KACS and reminded them that they are appreciated with all the kindness and hard work that they do each and everyday.

Some pictures from today's activities

Today our KACS Preschoolers partook in a fall photo-op!

Today, our KACS 2YRO children continued their community helper unit part two. In art, they applied their gross motor skills recreating a flame. In science, the children pretended he/she was a firefighter defeating a flame using a water source onto an "active" flame.

Today our KACS PK5 students are finishing up their weekly theme entitled "Creepy Crawlers: Bugs Versus Insects"

They went on a bug hunt this morning in the search to identify a corresponding insect and sorted pictorial examples of an insect versus bug.

Today our KACS Early Toddlers children were busy learning about Pets as apart of their weekly theme.

The teacher discussed what pets are and what kinds of pets the children may be familiar with such as a cat or a dog.

They were also supplemented in their language center in signing the word "Please" in ASL and verbalizing "Por Favor" in Spanish.

Congratulations to Harper in our older toddler class for mastering and reciting numbers 1-10 in Spanish by heart!

KACS PK4 students had an opportunity to do a height comparison versus a KACS teacher for the their math unit today.

Our Older 2YRO children enjoyed their snack this morning outdoors. Mild temperatures and clear skies, they had an outdoor picnic and practiced their curricula theme in action entitled "Nature Around Us: Week One."

This week is Fire Prevention Week (Oct 4th-Oct 10th) and KACS had a special visit from our local BBVFD! This year's theme is "Serving Up Safety in the Kitchen."

Thank you for your presentation and for visiting with us this morning.

Our KACS PK4 and PK5 students attended a presentation hosted by our wonderful KACS parents on Career Day. This live talk was presented, as part of the Community Helpers theme this week, to teach children about the people who live and work in their own community, to see the different vocations and realize that everyone has an important role to contribute and to expose their minds to what they may want to be when they grow up!

Special thanks to the Harrison and Myler Families!

School pictures in progress...

Today KACS Preschoolers (PK3) began their weekly theme of "Forest Animals."

In their dramatic play center, it was converted into a forest and the children made a forest animal mask. They also examined different raw materials found in a typical forest such as leaves, acorns, flowers and rocks (characteristics of living versus non-living things).

KACS younger Preschoolers (PK3) enjoyed the cool weather today during outdoor recess!

KACS Older Toddler children were introduced to their weekly curricula theme entitled "My Senses."

The children explored all five senses - seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching - doing various activities which help us to learn about our surroundings.

One of the activities involved describing the texture shown on a hand: hard (rice), bumpy (sponge), rough (felt), smooth (tape), soft (pom pom).

[09/24/20]   KACS Preschoolers (PK5) had an opportunity to enjoy a curriculum lesson at the outdoor classroom during this cool weather.

Today our KACS Preschoolers (PK3) continued their weekly theme about "Farm Animals."

The teachers set up makeshift barn at one of their centers and each day they add more and more animals as they go along. Today, the children had an opportunity to pretend on how to milk a cow.

Yesterday, the children practiced feeding the animals by picking a number card on the table, identifying it and fed the animal "X" times using a spoon into the mouths of the animals.

KACS Preschoolers (PK3) started their weekly curricula theme entitled: "Our Friends"

Today at their math center, the students participated in a memory card game in which they had to match two of a friend's face by estimating and memorization.
