[05/22/19]   UT Health San Antonio, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, Department of Urology is seeking a PhD faculty with an outstanding record of scientific accomplishments in the areas of cellular, molecular, and genetic approaches to the study of kidney cancer.

Candidates will be considered for rank of Associate or Full Professor, tenure track. The applicant must have demonstrated prior success in federal funding, program building, mentoring and a critical body of work in the molecular mechanisms underlying kidney cancer. In addition, the ideal candidate would have a record of multidisciplinary interaction and the ability to work effectively in a team. The ability to foster collaboration and innovation across the Health Science Center and partner organizations is important.

The UT Health San Antonio is a Tier One research institution and home to the Nathan Shock Center for Excellence in Biology of Aging, an NCI-designated cancer center, an NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Award, the Center for Biomedical Neuroscience, and the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute. Located in the Northwest region of San Antonio, UT Health San Antonio sits as a gateway to the picturesque Texas Hill Country. We are excited to announce that we have initial accreditation for our Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship in the Department of Urology at UT Health San Antonio!

We have 4 FPMRS faculty – 2 in the Department of Urology and 2 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who will be working jointly to train our fellows.

We have a robust clinical and surgical practice that includes both vaginal and robotic surgery as well as a robust neurourology and urodynamics program.

Please circulate to any interested residents as we are accepting applicants through the N**P match this cycle for a position in July 2020.

Our program will accept both urology applicants for a 2-year program and Gynecology applicants for a 3-year program.

Our Story

The Department of Urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio provides the highest quality of care for Urologic Diseases. We are a group of fellowship-trained sub-specialists across the disciplines of Urology who have a wealth of management options for disease of the urinary tract including Prostate and other Urologic Cancers, Urinary Incontinence, Stone Disease, Sexual Dysfunction, Urinary Obstruction, Pediatric Urology, and innovative therapies of all diseases. We bring to our practice a large research effort that allows our faculty to use treatments and concepts that are the most innovative available.

Indeed, we are fortunate to have nationally and internationally-recognized experts in these areas of Urology that are looked-to by Urologists around the work for their recommendations for treatment and prevention of disease. Our research efforts have changed the way Urology is practiced and disease is treated nationally and internationally.

While we are responsible for the management of many individuals with Urologic Disease, it is our single unified focus that each and every patient is uniquely important and we treat all of those individuals who entrust their care to us with our closest attention. I am very proud to have an incredibly talented team of doctors, nurses, researchers, and others who work with me to provide the very best of care to our patients.
