The 2nd Annual Fall Wellness Festival is taking place on Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Quarry ER parking lot. Make plans to stop by for FREE flu shots and chair massages. Then, stick around for FUN activities including:

The UT Health Accelerated Nursing Class of 2018 is putting on the 2nd annual Love Run 5K on February 10th! Registration is $25 (http://imathlete.com/events/loverun5k2018) and the first 150 people to register get a race day t-shirt. All proceeds are benefiting the American Heart Association and our graduation fund!

There will be a race day raffle for everyone registered in the race and prizes include:

Dr. Barnes began her academic career when the UT Health SA Occupational Therapy Therapy program in San Antonio was first established. As original program faculty, she has been a teacher and mentor to every student who has received their OT degree from UT Health San Antonio. Please help us congratulate Dr. Barnes and thank her for her tireless commitment to OT education and effort to meet the needs for underserved pediatric populations.

The Student Clinician Ceremony is one of the milestones that students reach in our four-year medical education program. Sponsored by the The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, the Student Clinician Ceremony is designed to recognize students' academic and personal achievements in their preclinical curriculum, and to provide guidance and support as they transition to clinical rotations. Upperclassman, residents, and faculty will address the class with words of wisdom and encouragement, and the class will revisit a version of the Hippocratic Oath.

ICYMI: UT Health San Antonio showcases its U.S. News and World Report's Best Grad Schools for 2022 rankings by proudly hanging up banners over the parking garage on the Long Campus.

Long School of Medicine was named 16th most diverse medical school in the U.S., as well as #46 best medical school teaching primary care and #52 among medical schools performing research.

Groundbreaking research happening right here at our UT Health San Antonio to fight Covid-19. They've found how Covid-19 can hide in the immune system causing more severe cases of Covid.

After looking at Covid cases, Dr. Yogesh Gupta and his team found that many of the worst cases of Covid-19 were found in individuals that had high levels of metal ions in their system, that would be minerals like calcium, magnesium or manganese.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday, June 7, approved the drug aducanumab for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, which affects 6.2 million Americans.

Sudha Seshadri, MD, professor of neurology at UT Health San Antonio and director of the university’s Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases, issued the following statement:

“We are excited that a drug, aducanumab (Aduhelm, from Biogen), has been approved by the FDA for treatment of persons with early symptoms due to Alzheimer’s disease. This is the first new drug approved for Alzheimer’s in two decades.
