Project Measure Up

Volunteer organization with the goal to decrease the prevalence of youth overweight and obesity in Bexar County by providing leadership in planning and partnership related to surveillance research of the impact of school-based programs.

Project Measure Up seeks to support school districts in maximizing community resources available to them by facilitating a collaborative model comprised of the Youth Obesity Prevention Partners Council and the School Volunteer Corps. These two groups will work hand-in-hand to ensure that the ISDs receive the resources needed to fulfill federal and state mandates. The goal is to create streamlined programming and maximized resources for school districts to utilize.

[08/15/12]   Gardening Tip for the Week from the Health Collaborative Community Garden: The fall planting season is right around the corner for the avid gardener it is a time of planning and preparation. With the economy what it is today every family and individual could afford a little time and effort to start a small garden in ground, or in containers.

If you have never had success with growing crops pick one plant you love to eat and research it, determine when to plant it and then concentrate your efforts on growing that plant for the season and reaping the benefits of your hard work! Who knows the green thumb in you might start to roar and soon enough you will be planting full garden beds to feed your entire family! 08/07/2012
