Wow! We issued the challenge and our families are stepping up to meet it. We are now only $3,000 shy of meeting our annual ATF goal for the first time EVER!

Thank you to all of the families who have donated so far and throughout the year. With just a few more donations, we can make BASIS Shavano history!

Project Week is now in full swing and our teachers are hard at work demonstrating their unique talents and abilities to students throughout the school. We are thrilled to see some student faces on campus for the first time in a long while!

Thank you teachers for helping finish this school year on a fun and exciting note!

Let’s all show our appreciation by finishing strong toward our ATF goal!

With your help we can get there TODAY!

If you are able to join us in completing this challenge, please follow the link below to donate:

https://rb.gy/jloq8z

We have made it easy with a single $25.00 donation button. There is also a button where you may donate any amount higher or lower. Every amount helps.

As we approach the end of another truly wild and unprecedented school year, we wanted to share a bit of good news, a word of thanks, and issue one final challenge:

Never in BASIS Shavano history have we ever been so close to hitting our ATF fundraising goal for the year. We are just under $14,000 shy of this monumental achievement.

This milestone is all thanks to the generous donations we have received from our incredible families despite the unique challenges this year has presented. To our ATF donor families: We are truly grateful for the appreciation each of you have shown our teachers through these contributions.

Being that we are so close to hitting our goal, we thought we would make one final push for the ATF. We have determined that if each family currently attending BASIS Shavano donated $25.00, that would be it; we would finally make our goal a reality.

Two weeks ago, our own Tamara G. was selected as one of 30 Genes in Space Semifinalists from a pool of 1,020 submissions. This year, semifinalists were issued a new challenge: pitch your idea to a lay audience in a 60-second video; embracing the reality that good scientists must also be effective communicators.

After a difficult round of review, the Genes in Space team selected Tamara as 1 of 10 Honorable Mentions with her topic idea "Impact of spaceflight on oral health" and was awarded a miniPCR DNA Discovery System(TM) for BASIS San Antonio Shavano. This prize grants Tamara and her classmates a chance to use the very same biotechnology equipment in use on the ISS!

Thank you Tamara!

Our Middle school science bowl team represented the San Antonio Region at the National Science Bowl virtual competition held on Sat, May 8, 2021. Congratulations to our team, they placed 18th out of the 44 best teams from across the nation. It is no ordinary feat to be one of the top 20 teams in the nation and they put up a good fight till the very end. They showed immense grit, stamina and teamwork not just on the day of the competition but the entire year. We are so proud of these students’ hard work and work ethic. They not only excelled in their academic skills, but they worked excellently as a team, supporting each other and conducting themselves as the scholars that we expect them to be. Thank you so much to all the teachers who have set the bar high and have equipped our students with the ability to shine. Our appreciation goes out to all the parents who have consistently supported the club.
