This makes me think about my time in Basic Training... I remember a time when we were had to do push ups till we dropped. I remember being in the leaning rest and they called it. I was doing fine, right up till the time the thought of I can't hold this much longer entered my mind. My arms arms starting to shake and it was down hill from there. I was not at muscle failure yet but it was too late my mind would always quit before my muscles were actually unable to do any more push ups.

Be careful what you let your mind tell you, the rest of your body is listening.

[04/26/21]   I saw a quote that stuck out to me recently, it said " The top 1% succeed at the level they do because they do what the 99% won't".

What struck me was the word won't, not can't but choose not to. At the end of the day it is a choice and for many people the pull to what they want in the short term is too great. This can be true of anything you want to accomplish and it does not have to be about money.

I can speak from experience, it is much easier to stay inactive on the sidelines and not have to face the "what if". This acronym hits close to home for me, Face Everything And Rise. Becoming a coach has forced me to face many of my fears head on and put my money where my mouth is. We all have people that believe in us and want to see us succeed, if you don't then you need to get some new people. We all have seeds of greatness in us, it is a question of whether or not you will water them.

Coming into the weekend you have a choice, let the week close without it being done or intentionally set aside some time to do it. If it has become a pattern of not making time for things you should it might be time to re-evaluate your priorities.

I do my best to practice what I preach, trying to grow daily and sometimes falling flat on my face. I can not offer you all the answers. What I can offer you is transparency, accountability and all the knowledge I have.

I have a tenancy to focus on the destination so much that I miss all the beauty along the way. Don't be in such a hurry to get where you are going that you miss the amazing things that will inevitably happen as you go and grow.

Instead of making a statement about the negative, find something positive and flip it around. For me I used to fear what people thought of me, I would tell myself things like "you can't do this or no one will take you seriously".

I would then ask myself, what if that is true or then what happens? What if I try but I really can't do it? Then what is the worst outcome I can imagine and how likely is it to happen? I know from experience that, even if I fail it will not have been for nothing. I will have learned something along the way and often times I learn more then if I had succeeded the first time.

For me, I have never accomplished anything meaningful without passing through fear first. Sometimes the fear follows you till the end, but if you persist and push through you will come out on top. There is no shame in asking for help or admitting that you are scared to death, find someone who can walk besides you: a coach, a mentor, a friend etc...
