Will there be a recession in the beginning of 2023?

I wish I could definitely predict this. (Like so many others)

On the one hand, the economy is pretty strong for now with unemployment rates on the lower side.

But... there are aggressive interest rate hikes which leads to a decrease in consumer spending.

And...
Many believe it is inevitable due to geopolitical shock contributed by Mr. Putin and the worsening relationship with Si Jinping's China.

So what can we do about this potential threat?
Obviously start getting our finances in order and watch our own spend rate.

However, when it comes to your career and your future, this may be a great time to get in check with your skillset and passions in life. What about that side hustle you always dreamed about starting?

What skills do you want to master for corporate longevity or advancement? When was the last time you thought about this?

And..now is not the time to make your boss disappointed. Find out how to add value in your current organization even more than you ever have.

What is Coaching?

The more I learn about the coaching process in coaching others, and being coached, I hear so many misnomers as to what coaching really is, so I thought I'd share some information to clarify the differences between a therapist, a mentor, and a coach.

Therapy is intended to “reveal” and/or “heal.”

Therapy is a more reactive practice in the sense that therapists work with past experiences with their clients to help them move forward; whereas coaching is a more proactive practice focusing on the “here” and “now” and identifying where their clients are today and where they want to go.

A mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor.

A mentor shares their own experiences and knowledge to guide their mentee in advancing their learning process.

Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance by helping their client to learn rather than by teaching them.

A coach brings the unconscious into the conscious by asking intelligent, open, and curiosity-based questions. This increases the awareness in the client.

A coach listens intentionally and holds their clients accountable for their objectives and goals.

When coaching, the answer is always within the individual and there is empowerment from sourcing our own answers. In addition, the individual being coached is more apt to follow through on solutions that they produce themselves and therefore become more confident and more resourceful going forward as a result.

Coaching is a process – not a magic pill. True change occurs when the client does the work required for change/progress.

As 2021 comes to an end and Thanksgiving is upon us, it is time to start reflecting on our accomplishments and showing gratitude for all of our blessings.
