We have some engineers in our class. The block area is a busy place for construction! We encourage students to draw their designs so they can see what they created. They are learning skills on how to work together, spatial awareness and where their body is in relationship to their projects, and how to handle the feelings when our structures fall down. It is fun watching where their imagination will take them.

Here is some Fall Fine Motor fun! We encourage students to trace on the lines before using watercolors, not only does this help with hand eye coordination and muscle control, but the end result looks awesome. Hole Punching helps strengthen their hand muscles, which helps with correct pencil grasp and cutting skills. We’re always saying, “ Just a dot not a lot!” These activities help again with strengthening hand muscles, hand eye coordination, as well as muscle control. We use different items to encourage scissor skills, different paper weights and textures, tape, and even natural things like leaves. We set up activities where students can use tweezers or their fingers to work on their pincer grasp, one of our favorites in the fall is harvesting sunflower seeds to use or plant later. Play Doh is another great activity, we set it up with scissors, students roll out the dough into long ropes then cut them.

Dramatic Play! Already this school year our students have gotten to experience a Vet Clinic, a Sandwich Shop, a Cafe, and now a Pizza Shop. There is always so much learning that goes on in the Dramatic Play Area. They have opportunities to write, place orders, evaluate their pets needs. They have opportunities with math, by counting money received, following recipe directions, weighing and measuring items. They learn socially about the “roles” that they play, how to answer the phone or help a customer. We love watching our students learn and grow.

Our 45 acre campus gives us so many beautiful flowers 🌸 to explore. We value process over product so students get to explore the flowers as they desire.

We are letter and number detectives! 🕵🏼‍♀️ We search for letters and numbers around the room and then document what we find 🔍

We love block play! The students love drawing what they’ve built. When we are working with blocks we are working on our spatial awareness and how things fit together.

Who doesn’t love sensory bins and tubs? We love reusing different items to give our students different sensory experiences.

We love cause and effect! And process art is the BEST art! Let’s get messy!

Let’s Write!! We love having the Post Office dramatic play set up. We love writing!

We love going on walks in nature and exploring the world around us. Today we heard a frog outside so we went looking for him, while we were out there we found a worm too.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the preschool classes.

I was on a bit of a dyeing kick today. Liquid watercolors do a fantastic job dyeing wood and grains, the colors were so vibrant. I used acrylic paint to color the chickpeas for our sensory table. I can’t wait for them to dry so we can use them!

Some of the fun ways we learn. Nature walks, taking a closer look at flowers and harvesting seeds to plant, free drawing and painting, students were rolling a color dice and then stamping the color on their page, making letters with playdoh, and exploring apples from our nearby trees.

It’s pumpkin patch time! 🎃. It was wonderful to get to go this year. The rain held out just long enough for us to enjoy some muddy fun☔️

This right here is why our school is so cool. Some students saw the farmer harvesting nuts in the nearby field so some of us went on a field trip to watch.

Our new classrooms are set and ready to go. We are so excited to be back!

When the preschool started at WCS 2 years ago we had 1 small class, last year we had 2 filled classes, and this year we are almost to 3 filled classes, we have been so blessed by our community. We have a few openings left in the afternoon preschool class.

It’s beginning to look a lot like preschool……. We’ve been working overtime getting the brand new rooms and playground finished. Here is a sneak peek 😉

Kroes has done some fabulous work around our preschool getting it all ready for our students on Monday Sept 13! It’s so exciting. 🤗

Spring is here!!! These beauties were found near our classroom. Here was an invitation to draw the flowers I love using construction paper crayons, the colors are very vibrant on construction paper.

Let’s get messy!!!!! We love sensory play and experiencing the world around us. Our 45 acre campus allows for plenty of opportunities to get out and explore! We always wash up after!
