Just sharing what some students have prepared for next week. Nice work trading melodic elements in a complexly textured overlay. Rhythmically solid.

Duets are great! It’s a real test of maturity in playing to blend your skill with another. Here’s a pair of students with a Christmas medley all ready for next week!

[08/12/19]   Hi ! If you’re reading this, chances are you are looking for a piano teacher. As a matter of fact, I am also looking, for committed new students, or parents who are committed to helping their child succeed in piano.
Before we talk, let me ask you a couple of questions: Number one, are you looking for a musical activity to see if your child likes it? Or are you DECIDED that music should be in your family’s life-style, and are you willing to dedicate your energies to your child’s success?

Number two, is your first question likely to be “How much do you charge?” My response would probably be, “How much do you want to learn?” You see, teaching is not a product with a market value that can be discounted. As important as it is, the question of cost is secondary to that of identifying WHAT you are receiving.

Let’s say you are looking for a vehicle for an extended cross country tour. Is your first question “How much do you charge for a car”? The response would be, “Well, what do you NEED, a little economy car for shopping trips, or an SUV for long-distance cruising?” Then, the decision is how much you are willing to spend to get where you want to go.

So, in order to answer Question No. 1 for both of us, I invite all prospective students to watch me teach, to see if my results match what you want for your child. THEN you can decide if the answer to Question No. 2 gets you where you want to go.

Answer Question No. 1 for yourself, then CALL for an appointment to find your other answers. I have forty years experience teaching all ages as young as 2.

Paul R. Nickels (435) 652-1959, or cell (702) 313-8425

[04/14/19]   Congratulations to Justin and Aiden Gulbranson for winning the Outstanding Duet award at SUPAF this year! And to Seva and Wells Robertson for their dynamic performance. Mia and Charlotte West also received Superior awards for their performances. GOOD JOB, ALL!

Our Story

Hi, My name is Britni West. I am a Suzuki Mom. My child is a student of Paul Nickels from Suzuki Piano Basics in St. George, Ut.
I started this page as a favor to Mr. Nickels because I appreciate him so much. The spirit of Shinichi Suzuki lives on in Mr. Nickels. He embodies Shinichi Suzuki's ideals and philosophies. Shinichi Suzuki once said, ""My dream is for the happiness of all children. I feel respect and friendly feelings for everyone. In particular, I cannot help but feel respect and warm feelings for young children. And my heart brims over with a desire to help make all the children born upon the earth fine human beings, happy people, people of superior ability. My whole life energies are devoted to this end." As a Suzuki Mom, whose child has been in the tutelage of Mr. Nickels, I have seen this beautiful outlook portrayed by Mr. Nickels.
This page is devoted to Mr. Nickels and his studio, Suzuki Piano Basics in St. George, Ut, for the purpose of creating more awareness of the valuable resource he is to the children and parents of our community in St. George, Utah. As well as building a community among Suzuki parents and teachers to help share ideas and give support to one another.
