Hey RNRI Family. Dingo is playing at Roni Golan’s gallery space (basement of Kuma’s on State Street in downtown ROCKFORD) on Jan 18 with Mick’s new project and another band. I am putting together a band to open the show. The idea is to have a series of guest vocalists sing 1 or 2 songs. If you know any kids from RNRI that would be good candidates lmk please. I also would take grown ups. they have to be good and want to perform. Thanks!!
Reflections of Rockford - Festa Italiana
This weekend we went to Festa Italiana to check out the bands that took part in the Rockford Rock and Roll Institute. It was very hot but spirits were high and I ran into a ton of cool people. I cannot remember all of the band names (hint, hint, if someone wants to put them in the comments), but the kids and adults put on a great show.
Thank you for looking at these pictures of Rockford. Get out, explore our city, and keep making Rockford a wonderful place to live.
There will be extra pictures on the RoR page.

We had a blast taking photos of week 2 of Rock and Roll Institute last week! This was Jesse's daughter's first year at camp, and it definitely won't be her last!

Start a band Monday, Play a show Friday! - and that’s exactly what our campers do! That’s where we come in. Start a band on Monday…Play a show on Friday.

A certain infamous Rock and Roll band once proclaimed “Its a long way to the top if you wanna Rock n Roll” Well lo and behold those Aussie chaps were correct. It is indeed a long way to even getting a band together and out of the basement. We assess your playing level and get you up and going before you can say “Hello Cleveland!!” So if you are indeed ready to rock then let us be the hand that gu

Casually sobbing this Sunday afternoon 😭

Sam and Tyler attended our program this summer. We were blown away by their dedication, skill, and most importantly, their attention and kindness to the younger kiddos, particularly the metalheads. If you’re looking for lessons, consider Sam and Tyler at Paradise Guitar & Repair! We can’t think of a better fit 🥹

Our Darlings,
It has been an absolute privilege to go on this journey with all of you. We are astonished at your bravery, work ethic, and empathy. We love you all more than works can express.
Stay weird, losers

We are completely astonished at the generosity of our community!!!

Had a rockin good time last night presenting our donation of $3900 to Rock and Roll Institute ! Expanded programming is on the agenda for our area youth!

Be there or be SQUARE!

Words cannot express how proud I (Jessica) am of our amazing, talented, brave, and empathetic youth. Today I witnessed copious amounts of laughter, an abundance of teamwork, oceans of support, and when they all complained about the heat, they did it with smiles. I, once again, am humbled.

Also, as per usual, I got ZERO PICTURES (I live in the moment, y'all). Drop them if you have them!!

Our annual fundraising event for the kids. Hilly, Bones and Pancake all have bands they instructed that are performing. These talented young people are the future of music. And they’re really fun to listen to and watch. Super cool. To say that we are proud is an understatement. It’s truly the the most rewarding thing we’ve done as musicians. Please try to join us if you can. This Saturday at noon ❤️

I am constantly in awe of how brave our young musicians are!! What a great show! Please if you got pictures, post them here!!
Massive thank-you to Neighbor’s and the friends and family of John, and Robin who put on this fantastic event!

See you soon, kiddos!!!

Tomorrow!!! Come out and show your support! Huge thank you to the family members of Johnny Mac as well as Robin Baker for hosting this wonderful event!

Those of you who ordered band shirts from Week 1: if you have not done so please send a mailing address to [email protected], or respond to the text you received. I will be bringing all orders to the benefit, our fundraiser, and the Norwegian show as well, which would save us a lot of money on shipping costs if you are able to attend.

Unfortunately, there were several orders that came in whose contact info was not listed on the contact sheet provided to us, as well as persons on the contact sheet that we have no orders for. If you have not received communication on your order, please reach out! I cannot help if I do not know.

I thank you for your patience as I navigate these new waters while also closing out the summer and prepping for our summer tour.

Our wonderful fix-it man Rob Bradley said it best!! We are so thankful, Mr. Rainwater!

“I want to send out a huge thank you to Randy Rainwater for his very generous donation of a beautiful drum kit with all the hardware, cymbals and accessories. This donation will be helping the many young drummers and musicians that are in the Rock and Roll Institute for years to come. It’s already been put to good use at the camp and the Friday concerts! You have a very big heart there Mr Rainwater ❤️”

Parents, Families, and Rock & Roll Fans!! The tshirts you purchased Week 1 are IN! We are now in the process of sorting, bagging, and shipping out all of the orders. If you have not sent your shipping address, please send to [email protected], or respond to the text message you received earlier tonight. We cannot ship it if we don't know where!

We could not have anticipated that these shirts would be so popular! A HUGE shout-out to the amazing student artists we worked with. We also could not have done this without the wonderful Laura Gomel of Art 317! From taking the students in, guiding them on how to design a band logo, making the programs, and selling merch, we are so thankful! Another big shout-out to The Branding Hunter for speeding through way more shirts than we originally planned, their donation, and all their help and support!

I HIGHLY recommend this event!! The arts in Rockford are boomin’, and this is a great way to get involved and see what’s up. Jessica will be there too, make sure to say hi!

SUMMER TOUR EMAIL HAS BEEN SENT! Please read the email carefully. There are no exceptions to the rules and guidelines provided.

Please remember that bands were scheduled 100% based on availability (not skill), as well as the time allotted that we have at the particular venue. We had several musicians that could not make any tour dates, which resulted in many bands unable to perform.

Summer tour email coming later today!!

Sitting listening to these kids SLAY soundcheck. If you’re not at Sinnissippi at 6pm, you’re super missing out!!!

Did you hear about Dwayne Johnson and the cinnamon bun?

They say it's rock and roll. 🤣

Jonathan and Kevin are stopping by to tell us about the Rock and Roll Institute's event happening at Neighbors Bar & Grill!

It's about that time! The kids have been working tirelessly to put on a good show for YOU, our community! Doors open at 5:00pm, show starts at 6:00pm, but our extremely talented DJs will spin before the bands start, as well as play sets throughout the show, in between bands. The park district's concessions will be open, including food and (kid and adult) beverages.

If you recieved a text this morning, your merch from last friday is ready for pickup at Sinnissippi at 6pm. If you did not recieve a text, your order is still being processed or we received a bad number. If your merch is not ready or you did not receive a text, please email [email protected] with your name, number, and address and the merch will be shipped to you. Please use the same name and number you provided with purchase.

Parents, Please remember that today is from 9am until concert close! We walk the kids over to Sinnissippi for soundcheck and provide dinner. Your child is needed this whole time, or they will miss the vital soundcheck, dinner, and other team building and bonding activities. Thank you!!

We picked up the shirts that are finished from week 1! Not all are completed. You will be receiving information today about your order. Please be respectful of the phone number it comes from; do not pass it out.

Young musicians are encouraged to bring masks in case we continue with our plan to have the concert outside tomorrow. We will not have an answer on that until the air quality reports hit tomorrow afternoon.

Thursday Vibes 💤🥱😮‍💨

Friends, the rest will be up tomorrow. I'm so sorry, but my internet cannot handle the workload.

Also, get some sleep. We've been hearing "I got no sleep last night" a lot lately. Students are reminded that it's in the contract that they need to get adequate sleep in order to show up for their bandmates to the best of their ability. And if you truly can't sleep..... practice.

When's the last time you updated your family pics? Do you have a milestone coming up you'd like to have captured? Look no further than Catalyst Design & Photography!

The amazing photographers at Catalyst were the ones to capture our Friday concerts and BOY did they deliver! Incredible shots, perfectly capturing the spirit of our musicians! They'd be great for any kind of event! THANK YOU CATALYST!!
