A feelings chart is a tool to help children identify and express their emotions. 💞 Save this post to use this feelings chart daily with your family.
Start the day by having each member identify how they are feeling in the morning. Throughout the day, family members can change how they are feeling and identify it using the chart as needed. This will help to spark dialogue about feelings and how family members can help or celebrate with one another.
Some benefits of using a feelings chart at home:
- Gives children the opportunity to think about how they feel and learn how to communicate it
- Helps children develop emotional literacy
- Helps children find words for their feelings

Is your child curious about how plants get water from the soil? Use this capillary action caterpillar experiment from our proprietary Life Essentials® curriculum to teach them about it at home! 🐛
Start by discussing the process of watering a plant. Explain that the roots draw in the water like a straw. That water inches up the stem of the plant in a process called capillary action.
Materials:
• 3 clear cups filled no more than ½ full of water
• Paper towels
• 3 colors of food coloring
• Rubber bands
Directions:
1. Encourage your child to add a few drops of food coloring to the water in the cups. Add a different color to each cup.
2. Invite the child to twist thick paper towels and secure each end with a rubber band.
3. Connect each cup with a paper towel. Be sure not to submerge the entire paper towel. Simply have your child place the ends of the towels into two cups like an arch.
4. Check on the capillary action caterpillar throughout the day.
As you wait for the results, watch as your child’s curiosity continues to grow!
