It was so nice to have our RAMS family together the last two days. ❤️. CCPS: Be sure to check your email: School activities are canceled for Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12. The Chesterfield Parks and Recreation Department is working directly with organizations regarding events scheduled in school facilities. Hopefully Monday all will be back to normal!

Another 2 hour delay tomorrow. Be sure to check the email message being sent out via CCPS.

Chesterfield schools will open on a two-hour delay Friday, Jan. 10.
◼ 12-month staff should report on a regular schedule.
◼ Bus drivers should report to their buses on a 1 hour and 15 minute delay to allow 45 minutes before starting their route to assess and address any issues related to low temperatures.
◼ Jacobs Road Elementary staff and families will receive information about plans for tomorrow from their principal.

Information about today’s schedule: The snowstorm that hit central Virginia Jan. 5-6 significantly disrupted daily life. In addition to power outages, several neighboring localities have been living for about a week under boil water advisories and water conservation measures. These hardships are affecting many employees who work in Chesterfield but live in Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, etc., and it is our hope that relief is in sight. For those reasons, we should have better explained why we asked all employees to report to work on their regular schedule on Thursday, Jan. 9, even though students were on a two-hour delay. Here’s the thought process behind that decision: Based on available information about road conditions and because schools had been closed for winter break plus three snow days, we asked all staff members to report on a regular schedule on Thursday, Jan. 9, to allow some time to prepare for the return of students. Providing a fuller explanation would have been helpful yesterday, and we wish that we had provided the reason behind that decision.

2 hour delay tomorrow! Bundle up-we’ll see you tomorrow!

All Chesterfield schools except Jacobs Road Elementary will open on a 2-hour delay Thursday, Jan. 9. All staff members except those at Jacobs Road Elementary should report at the regular time.

Jacobs Road Elementary will be closed tomorrow due to heating issues. Jacobs Road families and staff will receive additional information from their principal.

We are looking forward to kicking off 2025. Here are some notes for tomorrow:

◼ It is always important to take care and allow plenty of time to get to your destination
◼ Students riding buses are reminded to stand at least 10 feet away from a moving bus and wait until the bus stops before approaching it to board

Chesterfield schools will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Twelve-month employees should report to work at 10 a.m. Per School Board Policy 2160-R, liberal leave options will be in place. Any 12-month employee who is not able to report to work should contact their direct supervisor.

Whenever inclement weather occurs and a decision to change our school schedule must be made, we remain in close contact with the Chesterfield County Department of Transportation and Chesterfield Police to assess road conditions across the county. While some roads are clear, lingering snow and ice patches remain on some neighborhood and rural roads and very low temperatures mean that conditions are not likely to improve overnight.

Chesterfield County Public Schools and school division offices will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The School Board meeting planned for Tuesday evening will be rescheduled.
Please note:
▪️Building operations supervisors and day porters should report to schools at noon; additional information will be provided by the Facilities and Maintenance Department.
▪️Twelve-month employees should continue to be available as needed for communication from their direct supervisor.
