Bali, Indonesia
Çudamani Summer Institute
June 23-July 14, 2013

The Cudamani Summer Institute (June 23-July14, 2013) is a program in Bali, Indonesia that offers dancers, dance educators and serious students of dance a rare opportunity to learn music and dance in one of the most vibrant arts communities in the world. This three week program provides an unparalleled learning and artistic experience, studying with true masters of the Balinese arts while dancing, playing music and performing alongside some of Bali's finest young musicians and dancers- members of Cudamani.

Dance participants take classes five days a week from 9am-4pm. Staying in the idyllic accommodations of Artini 3 (walking distance to the cultural center of UBUD) we enjoy outings to special events and witness Balinese ceremonies and temple festivals. Dance students have a chance to play on the Balinese Gamelan and individual options during week two are a part of the program structure. As we mark our sixth year of the program we are confident that we offer the best in dance/music instruction, local arrangements, and cultural orientation.

Costs: $2000 for three-week program. Includes classes, shared housing, daily breakfast, lunch (M-F), airport transfers, and all outings and excursions. Airfare is not included. Accommodations for partners and family members can be made if done well in advance. Class fees go directly to artists and to supporting Cudamani's youth and children's programs. So rather than simply arriving as a tourist and taking lessons, one is immersed in a community and your participation make tangible a contribution to the lives of young people and artists in Bali. In addition, fees may be a tax deduction for your educational/professional. For more information please contact: [email protected]

On-line application deadline: April 1 (for first choice accommodation). NDA Members and Students Meet Season 9's Top Ten!

"I had the time of my life at the show!!!! I loved how it was a mix of a bunch of different dances all in one show! The dancers also were so good, and could go outside of their main style and dance a totally different way beautifully. Everything about it was amazing; the costumes, lights, dancing(of course), choreography, everything!!! I loved it so much!!!" --Student, Hand Middle School

NDA Members and Students Meet Season 9's Top Ten!

"We absolutely loved the SYTYCD show!! Our seats were awesome and it was an amazing experience to actually be able to meet the dancers! It really proved the reality of it and that they are normal people just like us that went after their dream and passion and accomplished it! It showed real insight :)"--Alexandra Szemerei

Maureen Hickey after taking her students to see the SYTYCD show in Syracuse.

"It was AMAZING!!! We all had a blast and came away with so many more ideas for new choreography, etc. It was great fun to be there with my students who have stayed with me for so many years. They especially enjoyed the meet & greet after the performance!!" --Maureen Hickey

Amy Ayann caught the show in NYC at the Beacon Theater and wanted to share her experience!

"The night was phenomenal. The dancers were on their A game last night. I brought my family along with me and they absolutely loved it, just as much as I did. The pieces were amazing and me and my cousin couldn't help but scream as they did all of our favorite pieces. It was a night I will never forget and I'm so glad I was given the opportunity. However, the most amazing part yet was meeting the dancers in person. Hugging Eliana and Cyrus, and getting a chance to talk to Tiffany and Chehon. Every dancer was open to questions and I asked a bunch. Asking them advice about pursuing a dance career and the hard work it all entails. It was inspiring and I feel really confident in pushing forward in my own dance career, trying to break barriers like they have.Stuff like this never happens to me so I'm still shell shocked and elated. I just can't thank you enough, thank you, thank you, thank you. This opportunity meant the world to me."

Dean Drews after taking his students to meet SYTYCD top 10 finalists-- "Whenever a new dancer came out they were so excited that they jumped out of their seats to applaud. When the winning male and then female dancers came out it to perform their solos my students were ecstatic. During the time between when the show ended and the dancers came out to the meet and greet my students transformed the lobby of the theater into their own dance studio. They were doing exercises and dances from class and keeping the other guests very entertained. They simply couldn't stop themselves from dancing after seeing the show." Check out the photo below!"

The SYTYCD Tour continues! Check out the latest photos from the the stop in Phoenix, AZ. NDA member Stacy Shane took a couple of her students. "My students were absolutely starstruck. Meeting the dancers made them feel like their dreams are possible. It was an experience that none of us will forget!" --Stacy Shane
