This week on we are featuring the CareerLAB!

Located at 167 Angell St., Brown CareerLAB is the Center for Careers and Life after Brown. The CareerLAB comprises three teams to support students: BrownConnect, Career Education & Recruiting. BrownConnect links students to internships, research opportunities, funding, and alumni connections. Career Education provides career counseling, resources, and workshops to help students identify and pursue the opportunities that interest them. Recruiting engages and connects students with employers. CareerLAB also offers Peer Career Advisors (PCA's) open hours which gives students the opportunity to connect with their peers to review their resumes, learn how to use the handshake platform, or perform mock interviews.

Whether you're already engaged in the search for internships, considering consulting, or have a few ideas but need help identifying opportunities or strategies to find opportunities, or you're not sure how to get started or what you could be doing now, stop by the CareerLAB or make an appointment with a Career Counselor. Make sure to give their page a follow and visit their website to learn more: https://www.brown.edu/campus-life/support/careerlab/

TLDR: We are merging our social media platforms with Brown CareerLAB

The BrownConnect initiative aims to increase the accessibility of internships and research opportunities, as well as provide ample opportunities for students to grow and develop their professional networks before graduation.

To date, CareerLAB staff and student workers have managed two separate social media accounts. Ultimately, we decided to converge our platforms to ensure that students have a centralized page to find information related to career exploration and development. The Brown CareerLAB social media platforms will now host information from all departments: BrownConnect, career counselors, and employer relations. Each department has its own graphic elements that can be used to distinguish and identify the source of information.

We hope that by converging our accounts, we will be increasing the accessibility of our information and resources and that students, parents, alumni, and other members of the Brown community have access to our center via social platforms.

Next week will be the final week that we post content on this account. After August 28, 2020, BrownConnect will continue to promote opportunities to the community, but this information will now be available on the CareerLAB accounts.

If you have questions or concerns, feel free to direct them to [email protected]
With the help of the Brown CareerLAB and the President's Advisory Council on Internships, more than 200 alumni, parents, and leaders came together this spring and summer to create the BrownConnect Summer Institute (BCSI). This free, seven-week virtual summer program engaged more than 1,100 students and new graduates — many whose original research, internship, and professional plans were derailed by pandemic-related closings — as they gained knowledge in their intended fields while forging meaningful connections with alumni and parents. See what some of the student participants had to say about their experiences in this video, and read more about BCSI at https://www.brown.edu/news/2020-07-15/bcsi
