The Preschool Program at the Portsmouth YMCA offers half day classes for 3 and 4 year olds! It is now run through SHR.
Although the program is no longer the same Preschool Program as it was when this page was created, there is still a program at the Portsmouth YMCA. Hours, curriculum, program and pricing are all through South Hampton Roads YMCA. We are closing this page, but THANK YOU for the amazing years we had!

Tomorrow is our Winter Celebration. All preschoolers are welcome to come at 9:00 a.m., the party will be at 11:00, and instructional time will end at noon. Parents and family are welcome to attend the party. Classes will resume January 2nd.

Swim policy. We swim every Wednesday. Children should come dressed in their swimsuit and have a towel and change of clothes in their backpack. We do not have extra clothes to accommodate the amount of children who are missing their swim gear. If your child doesn't have their suite they will not be allowed to swim.
Also, if your child is too sick to swim they should not be at preschool. If you are sending them on swim day they will swim.

Thank you to all the parents that came and brought food for our Thanksgiving Feast. The kids enjoyed helping us make the stew.
Reminder. Wednesday November 21st is a non-instructional day, Thursday & Friday the preschool is closed. Have a wonderful holiday!

Notices were sent home last week asking for specific food donations. Students help prepare turkey stew and corn bread for our Thanksgiving Feast. If you have not brought what we asked for please bring it in this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Thank you! 🦃🦃🦃

We have had a lot of sick children recently, please see our handbook for a full explanation of our policy or ask if you have any questions.
If you child is running a fever, throwing up, have diarrhea, or have a runny nose that is green or yellow - they can not attend preschool. They are not allowed back until 24 hours after the last incident. Please understand this is to keep the other children, staff, and our families healthy.
Please note. Children can not administer their own medicine, including cough drops. If your child needs medication we need to have instructions from your doctor. Please see a staff member if you have any questions.

Monday the preschool will Trick or Treat throughout the YMCA. Please have your child bring or wear their costumes. They do not need a container for candy (we'll work on bags in class).
