Client shout out of the week goes to this little firecracker, Deborah. She has been coming 1-2 times a week since February of 2021. When she did her first set of the TRX Row this morning, I couldn't help but notice the definition in her arms. I told her when she finished and asked if I could take a couple of pictures to show her. She noticed it too and was excited to see that her hard work was paying off.

Happy Rock T-shirt Fridayyyyyy! 🀘🀘On this day in 1964, Vinnie Paul, the heavy metal drummer, producer, and co-founder of Pantera, was born. He also co-founded the heavy metal band, Damageplan, in 2003 with his late brother, Dimebag Darrell. Sadly, Paul passed away at his home in 2018 from coronary artery disease. He and Dime are together again. ❀ 🌈 #

Happy Rock T-shirt Friday! On this day in 1967, The Rolling Stones went to No. 1 on the US singles chart with 'Ruby Tuesday', the group's fourth US No. 1 single. 'Let's Spend the Night Together' was the original A side but after radio stations banned the song, 'Tuesday' became the A side. 🌈

It took almost two full days of shuffling papers, but I finally have my documents ready for the accountant to do our 2021 return. After comparing last year to this year, it appears that the studio almost doubled its revenue from last year. Hooray!

After almost four years, I couldn't be more happy about where we are and where we are headed. Thanks to all of my friends and loved ones who have supported the studio. Whether it is sharing our posts on social media or sending referrals our way (and some of you are really good at doing that), all of you have greatly contributed to our success. I will be forever grateful. ❀

Happy snowy Rock T-shirt from Southern NH! On this day in 1943, George Harrison, guitarist and vocalist with The Beatles, was born (the all-time bestselling album in the UK is The Beatles 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', with over 4.5 million copies sold). Harrison wrote the 1969 US No. 1 & UK No. 4 Beatles single 'Something'. As a solo artist, he had the 1971 US No. 1 album 'All Things Must Pass' and the 1970 worldwide No. 1 single 'My Sweet Lord'. He was also a member of the Traveling Wilburys with Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. Sadly, Harrison died of cancer on November 29th, 2001 at the age of 58. He is my favorite Beatle! Who is yours? 🌈

In this day and age of instant gratification, lots of people are looking for the quick fix. We are so accustomed to having whatever we want in seconds or minutes, so we assume that we can apply this to our fitness and wellness goals (whatever they may be).

My job as a health coach, mind body eating coach, and personal trainer is to help facilitate sustainable change, whatever that may be (everyone's journey is different). I do not guarantee that you will lose x lbs. in x amount of time, nor do I (or will I) have a financial connection whatsoever with any health products/supplements company. But, I will guarantee that I will do my absolute best to coach and cheerlead you during this process.

I grew up thinking that a thin body was the ticket to a perfect life. As long as I could be lean, skinny, or small (whatever adjective du jour I was pursuing at the time), all would be well. I'd be footloose and fancy free, without a care in the world.

I suspect I wasn't alone in this assertion.

Our culture, family members, friends, peers, and the media all contribute to this false premise. Everywhere we turn, we see representations of this fallacy, whether it's before and after photos, tearful testimonials or infomercials pushing the contraption/dvd/meal plan/shake/whatever that will change your life FOREVER.

I poured ALL of my energy into this quest for the perfect physique. I did this because I THOUGHT that was the reason for my unhappiness. After a quarter century of this pursuit, I woke up and realized that I had been lied to.

You see, focusing on the outside is a hell of a lot easier than focusing on the inside. While I was obsessing about my cellulite, saddlebags, batwings and whatever offensive body parts I was warring with, MY PROBLEMS WERE STILL THERE.

Once I allowed myself to FEEL MY FEELINGS (and it took a while for the pain to subside after years of suppression), the incessant desire to look like the societal beauty standard began to wane. It just didn't seem all that important anymore.

It was clear to me now: weight is NOT synonymous with happiness. It never was. It never will be.

If you are still battling your body and struggling with weight, ask yourself what's REALLY going on beneath the surface. Maybe there are some emotional wounds of your own that need healing. If the task seems too daunting, enlist the help of a qualified counselor or therapist who can provide a safe space for you to explore these issues.

It's hard. Damn hard. But, it's worth it. -- Cyndi

How many times have you said, "I was so bad today; I ate a cookie" or "I've been good all week; I haven't had dessert once!".

I used to say stuff like that ALL THE TIME. I'm sure you've said it. If you haven't said it, I'm sure that you've thought it.

I've never seen anyone nominated for sainthood while coming out of a juice bar, nor have I witnessed anyone coming out of a Dairy Queen in handcuffs.

Assigning moral judgments to yourself based on your food choice du jour is just as distorted as allowing the number on the scale to determine your value and worth. The food that you put into your mouth doesn't have anything to do with your inherent goodness, regardless of what it is.

It DOESN'T.

The next time you have a cookie and feel those familiar thoughts creeping in, recognize them, and, instead, say something like, "I enjoyed a delicious cookie today and am at peace with my choice."

Words are powerful. What you say about yourself WILL affect you more than you know.

Choose your words carefully.

You are GOOD, no matter what you're eating. -- Cyndi

My first three clients of the day were 72, 71, and 71 years young. These ladies are KILLING it. Between Body Bar Chest Presses on the ball ranging from 24-30 lbs., one arm db rows with 16.25, to holding a plank for 78 seconds, I am so happy for them, for their strength and endurance gains, and completely inspired by their determination to maintain a high level of function.

Some things get better with age: fine wine and these ladies. I seriously have THE best job EVER. πŸ’ͺ -- Cyndi
