Offering Adult Education services to Allegan, Kalamazoo, and Barry counties.

Plainwell Adult Education offers several different programs for FREE so that everyone in our community will succeed in getting their High School Diploma, GED or English Second Language goals. Here are a list of some of the programs that we offer to Allegan, Barry and Kalamazoo County: *High School Diploma *High School Equivalency *English Language Classes * Adult Remediation Classes High School Diploma- Transfer your credits from prior schools and pickup where you left off! With 17 required credits for students, you can focus on your academic courses and bypass electives to finish quickly! High School Equivalency- Get an Individualized study program with free practice testing to drill down on the areas you need to study to pass your GED successfully. English Language Classes- Learn English as a second language learner and study for your citezenship and naturalization test while getting help with employment and college. Adult Remediation Classes- Are you preparing for a big test? Need help brushing up on your reading, language, and math skills? We can help build your skils do you can get your dream job!

Mission: Renaissance Adult Education serves undereducated, underestimated, and overlooked adults in West Michigan. We believe everyone can learn and achieve greatness in and out of the classroom and our staff is committed to fostering a family-like environment free of judgement and rich in support. Our program provides opportunities for academic success, employability, and community engagement by giving relevant learning experiences, career and post-secondary exploration opportunities, and barrier reduction programs.

Are you in need of assistance with finding the resources available to you? Please come to the resource workshop at Christian Neighbors on May20th from 10am-12pm. No appointment necessary. Some of the things we can help with are filing the home heating credit, applying for jobs, applying for state assistance benefits and any other assistance you may need. Computer access will be available.

Receptionist - Friend of the Court: Job Summary Provides excellent customer service by serving as office receptionist. Includes screening phone calls, clients and others at the reception counter and directs clients to the proper Friend of the Court (FOC) staff persons. Receives mail and fax transmissions, pulls records and collects and organizes forms received from clients. Provides basic information regarding FOC policies and procedures in response to routine inquires. Files correspondence, orders and other legal documents, copies and distributes withholding orders and show cause orders. Delivers forms, correspondence and orders to other employees and departments. Wage Range: $14.79 to $22.20 hourly based on experience, with excellent benefits. Responsibilities and Duties: Screens incoming telephone calls. Greets and screen clients and others at the reception counter. Notifies staff of client arrivals for appointments and routes calls and requests for case information to proper staff. Provides forms to clients and attorneys, and provides basic information regarding FOC policies and procedures in response to inquiries. Collects and records completed Title IV-D forms from clients, and sends reminder notices to those who have not returned forms and makes appropriate case notes. Processes returned mail and checks for updated addresses in the MiCSES system and then updates addresses correctly. Indexes scanned documents into electronic files and distributes them to other employees electronically. Tracks filed documents retention period and shreds documents once the retention period has expired. Opens, date stamps and sorts mail in the morning and afternoon, adding client name on mail if missing and distributes to appropriate personnel. Monitors fax transmissions throughout the day, adding client name if missing and distributes transmissions to appropriate personnel. Deliver and receive forms, correspondence and orders from other court offices and county departments. Complete employer Merge/Modification. This consists of verifying a customer`s employer, federal identification number, OTHP number, address, contact phone and fax. The final draft is sent to Lansing for approval and from there either approved or denied based on information supplied. Process income withholding orders and add an electronic copy to the file. Make a corresponding case note and forward to appropriate personnel if zero and/or case closure is required. Update forms, make copies and maintain forms in the FOC lobby and judicial area courtroom entrance for public use. Maintain an inventory of office supplies for the FOC office.
