Operating as usual

Here are photos from Edison State's chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success food drive. During Spring Semester members collected and donated more than 200 food items to the Bethany Center in Piqua. This was possible due to the generous employees and students who donated and the members of NSLS who worked hard to organize the event.

Recently Business Faculty Ruth Barney and Sandra Streitenberger held a celebratory event that highlighted the accomplishments and partnerships of service learning projects associated with the Business Capstone course, BUS 250S. To complete their project, students volunteer a minimum of 15-20 hours at a non-profit institution. There were 23 students that participated with approximately 400 hours donated. This year a number of institutions were involved including: Troy Senior Center, Buckeye Trail Girl Scouts, Ohio Benefits Bank, Overfield School, Enrollment Services at Edison, The Future Begins Today, Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum, and Safe Haven. Furthermore, there were a number of different activities that the students volunteered for including: audit reporting, running leadership programs, tax preparation, database development for fundraising, and various marketing endeavors involving websites, databases, audio-visual, and other social media. This experience is not only a financial and technical benefit for the participating organizations but allows students to truly understand how the skills and knowledge developed through Edison can benefit community organizations.

The Edison Community College History Department faculty and students participated in the 5th annual Habitat for History event! The event took place at the Caesar Creek Pioneer Village in Waynesville, Ohio. The purpose of the event is to maintain and restore the 200 year old pioneer village (non-profit). Students and faculty participated in various activities including: restoring the roofs, caulking the building's walls, rebuilding bridges, building flower beds with stones, planting flowers, and whitewashing the buildings. Additionally , this is an opportunity to learn what it was like for the new Ohioans in the 1800s.
