The Piqua Night owl classroom is studying lights this month.
The children had so much fun exploring flashlights and the light table in the dark classroom.
The ACES students from Darke and Miami county have been busy constructing gingerbread houses. Thank you goes out to the Central Office staff for their donations to help make this project happen.
Completing orientation this week we have Stephaine, Britney, and Kylee. Stephaine will be going to Piqua as a substitute teacher. Britney and Kylee will be teachers in Troy.
In Fairborn they are trying to add a little holiday spirit by decorating the doors.
Ben Logan had a special guest visit today. A child’s Dad read a story and talked about his job in the military. The family spoke about the different states they have lived in. The children then were able to look at the globe and see where those states are in comparison to Ohio.

Piqua Night owls completed a Parent engagement today. Parents were invited in to make body tracings of the children. Then the parents and children decorated the tracings.
The agency will be closed on November 23-25th to observe the Thanksgiving holiday.

David Straka, Congressional Aide for Michael Turners office, visited one of Miami Valley Child Development Center (MVCDC) and invited CORS staff --Karin Somers, Garret Thompson, CORS former parent, former OHSAI Parent Ambassador, and Emily Smith, Fairborn Parent to sit down with Congressional Aide and MVCDC staff to discuss Head Start Programs and needs of children, families, and staff in the Congressman’s district – including Montgomery (MVCDC serving) and Greene (CORS serving) Counties.

The Bright Stars classroom in Van Wert has been busy, busy, busy! They are learning about community helpers and had several visitors stop by the center.
Completing orientation this week we have Hayley, Amber, and Jani'ce. Hayley will be going to Urbana as a teacher, Amber will be a teacher in Wapakoneta, and Jani'ce will be a teacher in Greenville.

Piqua Night owls created Mr. potato heads using pumpkins, we created “Mr. Pumpkin Heads.”

The Family Advocate's and Home Educator's from the Piqua center recently participated in the Trunk or Treat event at Pittsenbarger Park.
The Piqua Night Owls classroom. held a parent engagement called “let’s have a ball” we invited parents to come and play ball with the children.
Mr. Bill from our maintenance department visited the Merryview classroom in Fairborn today.
The class is studying community helpers and Mr. Bill spoke to the children about construction workers.
He showed them how to use several different types of tools including tape measures and levels.
On October 26th the Sunburst classroom had their family involvement where families enjoyed cardio drumming with their child
The Piqua center had a visit from the fire truck today.
Our Fairborn Head Start program hosted their annual Playground Pumpkin Patch family engagement event last week after the October parent meeting!
Families gathered with their children to explore pumpkins, take photos and enjoy some fall themed activities!
On Thursday, October 13th the Sunburst classroom had Dads and Dudes Day where students-built football games from Home Depot.

We had a great turn out for our Dad’s and Dudes celebration on October 13th, 2022. Megan Hammaker brought 2 “Owl-some” critters to visit the Busy Bees and Lighting Bugs classrooms of Greenville! The children observed and learned about “Pip” a northern screech owl, and “Umber” a barred owl.
The Merryview classroom in Fairborn had a wonderful time exploring pumpkins!
Exciting news at the Urbana center … the Shining Stars classroom has “adopted” a dairy calf named Mocha!
Children in the Fairborn Adventurers classroom enjoyed playing in the leaves on the playground yesterday afternoon!
Greenville Cornerstones and New Beginnings had our Dads and Dudes Day on October 14th. We also had the Greenville Fire Department come show the truck to the kids and families.
