"This Masquerade" Video # 175

Hi everyone. Welcome to this weeks 2nd song
"This Masquerade" This song was written by Leon Russell.
In 1976 George Benson who was a well known great jazz
guitarist over night became a vocal sensation much like Nat King Cole
after releasing the song.
His career after that concentrated more on his voice and less on his guitar
which saddened myself and many guitarists who followed his extraordinary
guitar skills. That doesn't take away from the fact that he is also an awesome
singer. Thank you all for taking the time to watch my videos.

Eleanor Rigby Video # 173

The second song this week is usually listed as a Lennon/McCartney
collaboration. "Eleanor Rigby" was mainly written by
Paul McCartney who was responsible for at least 80%
of the songs content. As you all know I am a huge Beatles fan.
If you are too you might want to check out my web page
http://www.jimmyfelts.com or my you tube channel
because in the last year ( during covid) I have recorded a lot of their songs as music videos.

shows he was equally good at writing songs. This song
being a good example of his talent.

Bio

At 10 years old I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and knew then that I wanted to make my living playing guitar. By 12 I started my first band. At 18 I joined The Yearsley Brothers Blues Band playing all over Ohio. At 21 I studied under jazz guitarist Sandy DeVito for 2 years in Seminole Fla. Through out this time I also played as a solo act in local pubs and coffee houses in the Tampa Bay area. Also at this time I worked with another of Sandy's students in the Mike Hoke Duo. After returning to Ohio I played as a solo act , taught guitar and started a dance band called Special Edition playing 6 nights a week in motel lounges and pubs for 8 years. Wanting to play more rock and blues oriented music I formed my first of three trios all under the name Nite Shift playing 4 to 6 nights a week. During this time I taught guitar at Lively Music in Piqua Ohio 5 days a week for 13 years. I then moved on to Sound City Music in Troy Ohio 5 days a week for 16 years averaging 55 students a week. I went on to work with a great band called Main Event who I spent 2 years with. After that I was very fortunate to work every Saturday night for 2 years with the great jazz guitarist Kent Burnside at Captains Point in Lakeview Ohio. I had a student (Scott Bridges) who after studying with me attended the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood California. When he returned to Ohio I recruited him and formed "the Duo" combining jazz and blues instrumental music which lasted 10 years. Since then I have concentrated on playing solo in fine Dining restaurants , corporate gigs and private parties 2 to 3 times a week. I currently teach 3 days a week from my personal studio. I have been blessed to be doing this now for 40 plus years.
