We had a fantastic day celebrating Halloween with our community yesterday!
On this October 11, National Coming Out Day, Rising Roots will continue to raise awareness for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, and champion the idea that homophobia thrives in silence. On this day, many people who identify as LGBTQ+ will “come out” (a term stemming from the phrase “come out of the closet”) to friends or family about their sexuality, which is a very big moment! Our community supports you & loves you!
Our Magic Tree House Book Club went outside yesterday to see in person just how huge a Pteranadon really was! That 18foot wingspan is incredible to think about!!
We had a fantastic first day back at Rising Roots!! It was a big celebration as we caught up with our old friends and welcomed new members to the community. It is going to be a great year!

Periodically we would like to share with the greater community a little bit about the incredible families that make Rising Roots the special place that it is!
Introducing Morgan (they/them) and Laurel (she/her)!
Morgan is one of our fantastic teachers. They teach Wilderness Survival, and they are so excited for next year when they hope you will join them for Tolkien’s Universe or our first theatre class, Acting Up! Laurel is 11 years old and in the 6th grade!
Q: What is your favorite Rising Roots moment?
A: For me, it’s seeing the kids in my Wilderness Survival class really get into the topic we’re discussing. They have such cool ideas and questions.
Laurel’s favorite RR moments have to do with hanging out with her new friends during lunchtime.
Q: What does Rising Roots mean to your family?
A: Rising Roots is amazing. We have never been part of a co-op before, so we weren’t sure what it would be like. It’s like we found “our people.” The kids, the parents, the admin…they are all just so great. I wish co-op was more than once a week!
Q: What makes Rising Roots unique?
A: I think the diversity of the people who attend and the inclusiveness of the co-op really set it apart from a lot of homeschooling groups. I feel a lot more welcome here than I have in other settings.
Thank you Morgan and Laurel for being our first Featured Family! We are so glad that you are a part of this community!!
Check out our newest members of Rising Roots! 😆 We were so grateful to have Brixalotl with us yesterday!! Members had the chance to create their own LEGO mini figures, and so much more!!

You can shop at www.brixalotl.brickowl.com or www.store.bricklink.com/brixalotl and make sure to put Rising Roots in the comments! Think holidays, birthdays, or just fun days, because you can never have too many LEGOS!
We had a fantastic dental hygiene presentation during lunch yesterday! Our very own Malesa Brinton did a fabulous job, and our kids learned all about how important dental health is - while having fun of course!
