MDRC is seeking rising undergraduate seniors of diverse backgrounds for paid summer internships at our New York City office. The mission of the internships, which are part of MDRC's Gueron Scholars Program, is to engage and to encourage individuals from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the public policy research community.
The selected summer interns will have opportunities to do applied research related to public policy issues and to build analytical and presentation skills. Interns will be part of multidisciplinary teams evaluating social programs. Each intern will have the opportunity to support a range of projects within MDRC’s five policy areas: Family Well-Being and Children’s Development, K-12 Education, Postsecondary Education, Low-Wage Workers and Communities, and Youth Development, Criminal Justice, and Employment.

CSTEP/LSAMP AY 2016-2017
The Summer Undergraduate Mentorship Program (SUMP) of the Hispanic Center of Excellence (HCOE) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is a six-week program that offers students from underrepresented groups in medicine and/or economically disadvantaged background a unique opportunity to become exposed to the realities and options within the medical profession through a “shadowing” experience with a physician. Besides shadowing a doctor in a preferred area of specialty, the program offers a broad and comprehensive curriculum, including medical lectures, hands-on workshops, a health disparities research project and literature review under the supervision of an Einstein College of Medicine MD PHD candidate research mentors and the medical librarians at Einstein.
SUMP requires a full time commitment Monday-Friday over six summer weeks. Students will be expected to attend fourteen hours of lecture per week and spend at least six hours per week with their assigned mentor. Program participants will be awarded a stipend at the end of the program.

2017 Winter CSTEP Program at Brookhaven National Laboratory
Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) seeks applicants for the Winter CSTEP Program. Selected students from New York State CSTEP Programs will be invited to participate in a five-day program developed for college students. The 2017 Mini-Course program will be held January 09 - 13, 2017. Participation in the course is limited to 20 students.
Program:
The program will be conducted by BNL researchers and will operate from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for five days. It will expose students to the wide range of research projects conducted at BNL, understand different pathways to scientific careers, and develop networking opportunities with the BNL scientific community and administrators. The program format includes orientation, classroom instruction, communication workshop, tours of research facilities, BNL based literature research assignments, reverse interviews with scientists and engineers, group oral presentations, scientific lectures and safety overviews. First-hand reinforcement of concepts learned will be supported and enhanced by BNL researchers and technical staff.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and enrolled as part of a program at their school. Students will reside at BNL and must be covered by their health insurance. Students must have demonstrated strong abilities and majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and must be recommended to the Office of Educational Programs (OEP) by their school’s CSTEP administrator.
Housing, Food and Transportation:
Housing will be provided in on-site single occupancy dormitories. Food (except for one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner) and transportation to the Laboratory will be the responsibility of the student.

The SUNY Optometry CSTEP Winter Internship Application is now Available. The dates for the program are January 03 - January 13, 2017.

This on-site Internship Program gives students a first hand look at what optometry is all about. The program takes place two times each year, once during the winter and once during the spring/early summer. Each session runs 8 hours per day for 2 consecutive weeks.
