Why Host an Au Pair?

Here are some common questions:

What is an Au Pair?
An au pair is a young adult from another country who lives with your family for a year and provides in-home childcare (like a nanny, but better)! Au pairs work up to 45 hours per week, in exchange for the opportunity to live with an American family. Because au pairs provide live-in childcare, they offer greater flexibility, caring for
your children at times that accommodate your family’s individual schedule. Au pairs can fulfill a variety of roles that help you family thrive and grow. An au pair may become a big sister or big brother to your children; be another responsible adult in your household; become a new member of your family; or become the sous chef in your kitchen and or prepare culinary treat(s) from their home country.

What about loss of privacy?
Granted hosting an au pair or having live-in help can mean some sacrifice of privacy in your home. However, the convenience of having someone in your home is so helpful when there is bad weather, an emergency at work, or when one of your children is sick, that it is a small price to pay for the flexibility it affords your family and outweighs any privacy you may give up.
