I have a question for those of you that have Studio Director. What is your preferred way to do Pre-Registration for current families? Thank you so much for your comments.
Rhee, as a dance fan and former tap/ballet combo student, I agree on age-appropriateness as well as the glut of angst-ridden, overly morose contemporary dance routines at competitions. I found a pearl among the rocks of videos of those negative-mood ones. Best of all, the pianist who accompanied the classes in the daily class series, Worldwide Ballet Class, CHOREOGRAPHED IT! This piece came to show that contemporary dance CAN AND SHOULD be happy and hopeful!
Any one who is doing a soft reopening or opening soon... Are you having parents sign any sort of waiver? We are planning to open allowing only a small percentage in at a time and taking all the precautions we could possibly think of next week. A waiver is something I feel like may be like a safety net. I would love to hear any thoughts on that.
What are you suggesting to do about Recitals with the Covid shut down? Put the Recital off, have small performances with fewer audience members? Still trying to make that decision.

is the right place for the live?
Hello!! I am a dancer!! And I am a man, a married man with three children. I am 50 and I dance every day. I have been dancing since the age of 13. I am more Athletic than most athletes, I have not retired!! I am Fit, Healthy, Strong, Confident, and Sexy. I am Nimble on my Feet. I am Quick, Agile, and Spritely in Step. I have more Stamina than a teenager. I am Youthful and have more Energy that most Students that I teach…that is just the tip of the iceberg!!

Here are a few of Life’s Skills I have learned from being a Dancer:
Courage, Love, Loyalty, Commitment, Professionalism, Truth, Honesty, Self-expression, Creativity, Self-Esteem, Friendship, Family, Hard Work, Failure, Stress, Compromise, Teamwork, Integrity, Adversity, etc!!

I have been that young boy that has been mocked and scoffed at while becoming a dancer. It never really bothered me though, because once I got going with choreography, the results would pretty much just shut down anybody’s critiques or judgments of me as a Human Being. As time went on, I realized that the comments would come from ignorance and a misunderstanding of any knowledge, truth, or facts. Truth be told, I came to believe that when people made ugly remarks about me being a dancer, it was usually because they weren’t, or couldn’t, or did not ever learn how to. Jealousy? Envy? That understanding, for me, kept me going and I was able to overcome that adversity fairly quickly. Oh!! And it also didn’t hurt being surrounded by girls. Especially without much competition from other boys. Dancing with girls, or playing on a team with boys?? …hmmm, No-Brainer!!

There were some awful things said last week about boys being dancers (with applause and laughter in the background from the live audience, you know who you are) and I just thought I would throw in my two cents…I have been a boy my whole life and I have been a dancer for a better part of my whole life. So far, it’s worked out well. I am still dancing at age 50, when a majority of men my age cannot bend down and touch their toes. I see no signs of stopping now…I am only getting better as I go. So, we will see who has the last laugh!!

Sincerely,
A Boy Dancer
