Move over March Madness- it's October and it is time to fill out your brackets for the annual Fat Bear Week competition! Each year the brown bears of the Brooks River at Katmai National Park in Alaska spend the summer and fall getting bulked up to survive the brutal winter they must go through in the months ahead. In the world of bears, being chunky is definitely a goal! Started in 2014, this event celebrates the bears and also highlights the important connections between all of the animals, like the brown bears and salmon, in the Brooks River ecosystem.

You can watch live bear cams (be careful- watching is addictive! :), learn about individual bears, get info about Katmai NP, and even vote for the Fat Bear Week champion 2022 from October 5-11! What're ewe looking at??

Our two rams at Sheep Pasture are both Jacob sheep, a breed known for their piebald, patchy wool and their large horns.

Affectionately nicknamed Fourhorn and Bighorn, our rams show the two variations of horns found in Jacob sheep. Bighorn has two large, curled horns on the side of his head, while Fourhorn has two vertical horns that go straight up, and two smaller horns that frame his face.

We'd like to give a massive thank you to everyone who made this year's Harvest Fair happen! To our incredible volunteers, fellow nonprofits, local crafters, silent auction donors, vendors, financial sponsors, and to everyone who came to have fun with us yesterday at the fair - THANK YOU! We hope that everyone had a great time, and we can't wait to see everyone back next year!

For everyone’s safety, pets will not be allowed on Sheep Pasture grounds during the Harvest Fair, from 10:00AM-2:00PM this Sunday, October 2nd. Service animals trained to provide specific tasks for their handlers are of course welcome.

The fall weather has been getting us very excited for our Harvest and Craft Fair! We're so excited to welcome everyone to Sheep Pasture, on Sunday, October 2nd, from 10:00AM - 2:00PM.

Decorate pumpkins, grab a cup of hot cider, browse a selection of local crafts, and celebrate all things fall with us!

It's Labor Day weekend! Whether you plan on spending the time with BBQs and friends or napping with a book, we hope everyone has a relaxing and safe celebration at the end of summer.

The Sheep Pasture trails and property will be open on Labor Day weekend for anyone who wants to take some time to unwind with nature as the summer slows down and the fall heats up. Pack a picnic, take a hike on the trails, or just sit and enjoy some down time outdoors for a while. Leashed pets are welcome at Sheep Pasture, too. Don't forget to bring enough snacks and water for the people and pets in your group!
