We are sad to announce the end of the Innovation Zone Learning Community. Charleston County schools have been reorganized into three learning communities - elementary, middle, and high schools. We appreciate the support you have shown us for the past several years as we worked to promote our schools and students. We wish each and every one of you the very best!

Great day at the Hursey Carnival!!

Midland Park Primary and Minnie Hughes enjoyed their day at the game too!


North Charleston Creative Arts toted their game day caps with them to Education Day at the Joe...was it to avoid the rain or to catch a ball???


Pepperhill Elementary had their 4th and 5th grade Science Fair last week. Some of their inquiry-based projects included questions like: Can hand soap and hand sanitizer prevent the growth of mold? What substances benefit or harm plant growth? Check out their research to find their conclusions!


Rain can't stop the IZLC! EB Ellington has read all year with their Riverdogs partner and have arrived today safely and excited at The Joe for Education Day. Let's play ball!


Democratic leadership in action at Pepperhill Elementary! Principal Underwood and Assistant Principal McCarthy have a Chat n' Chew with the winners of this year's Science Fair.


2nd graders at NCCA applied their studies of foundations of economics by creating and running a market where the 1st and 3rd graders got to shop using their Owl Bucks. What a creative way to teach, learn, and pay it forward!


Hursey students participated in the Cooper River Bridge Kids Run 2015 (March 27th)! They were able to enjoy some of the activities before the event was cancelled bc of rain...:(


Hursey students participated the the "First Tee Champions Cup" on Wed, April 8th at the Wescott golf course. They competed against 15 other schools and completed various golf related challenges that promoted good sportsmanship and teamwork :) What a great time!


Come One, Come All! The HURSEY Carnival is here again! Saturday, April 18!


The Eagles and the Minnie Cats of E.B. Ellington Elementary and Minnie Hughes Elementary Schools faced off in their first ever Black History Bowl which took place March 13th, 2015. There were 20 questions asked per round with the first round being worth 5 points, and the second and final round worth 10 points. Mrs. Hollinshead-Brown and Ms. Berry served as the two judges who kept score and made corrections when needed. At the end of the second round, E.B. Ellington emerged victoriously over the Minnie Cats. The challenge for next year has already been set, and the bowl will take place at the home of the Minnie Cats!


Goodwin's PTA night used Kahoot to quiz families' knowledge of the book The Lemonade War!


Congratulations to all the math bowl participants for an amazing job!

Goodwin Elementary welcomed special visitor South Carolina State Superintendent of Education, Molly Spearman!


Using his experiences in paratrooper school as a springboard, Dr. Winbush stressed the importance of listening and following the rules in school. "If you listen and follow the rules," he told the students in Mrs. Alexander's first grade class at Goodwin Elementary, " you can become anything you want to be!" The Groovin' Geckos would like to thank Dr. Winbush for spending part of his morning with us.
