Any current photography students or recent grads who are interested in wedding photography and building a portfolio? See this post:

Hi, guys!

Are there any current photography students or recent grads who are interested in wedding photography and building a portfolio? I desperately want a photographer for my wedding in January, but it’s an extra grand or more just isn’t in our budget, so I thought maybe I could find someone who would want to work something out so they can get some experience.

If anyone is interested or know anyone who may be, feel free to PM me! Thanks in advance! 🙂

Next up in our series highlighting all 56 Southbound artists is Lisa Elmaleh! ( @elmalayheehoo )
Lisa Elmaleh is a West Virginia-based photographer who works with a large-format (8”x10”) camera in the wet-plate collodion process. This method was widespread in the nineteenth century but is rare in contemporary photography. The wet-collodion process only allows for one photograph to be taken at a time and because the image must be shot and developed all while the chemicals are still wet on the image plate, Elmaleh travels with a portable darkroom in the back of her truck and completes each image, one at a time, on location within about a thirty-minute window. Elmaleh’s images include a series of anachronistic-looking photographs called American Folk. These works portray Appalachian folk musicians who preserve traditional music posing with their instruments.
Find out more about Lisa Elmaleh, watch a video about her, and see more images of her work at
