Good afternoon, Norfolk Public Schools’ Staff and Families:
Please be advised that due to the severe winter storm impacting our area, Norfolk Public Schools will be closed for in-person learning on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and Friday, February 21, 2025. According to the National Weather Service, heavy snowfall, strong wind gusts, and dangerously low wind chills will create unsafe travel conditions, making it necessary to keep school buildings closed. Additionally, the risk of power outages and icy roads will further impact transportation and daily operations.
As a precautionary measure and to ensure continuity of learning, all students will continue with remote learning on both days (2-20-25 and 2-21-25), following their regular schedules for live, online, synchronous instruction. Families are encouraged to review any materials provided by their child’s(ren’s) teacher(s) to ensure they are prepared for virtual learning.
NPS staff members are expected to continue to work remotely on both days (2-20-25 and 2-21-25) as directed by their school-level or departmental supervisors.
We encourage you stay informed by monitoring NPS communications, including robocalls, text messages, the NPS website, and social media updates. The NPS administration will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide any necessary updates. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
Please be advised that due to the winter storm expected to impact our area beginning Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Norfolk Public Schools will close for in-person learning on this date. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from Wednesday beginning at 6:00 a.m. through Thursday at 6:00 p.m. with forecasts predicting up to 8 inches of snow.
NPS staff members are expected to work remotely in accordance with direction provided by school-level/departmental supervisors.
Out of an abundance of caution, all students will transition to remote learning (live, online, synchronous instruction) starting Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Families are asked to review any materials sent home by your child’s(ren’s) teacher(s) to ensure preparation for remote learning (live, online, synchronous instruction).
We encourage you to monitor NPS communications, including robocalls, text messages, the NPS website, and social media channels. The NPS administration will continue to closely monitor the forecast throughout the week and provide updates regarding the status of the school division.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff during this winter storm.
