Meet our Faculty: Natalie Beckenbaugh
Oboe Instructor

Natalie Beckenbaugh has been playing the oboe for over ten years. Her pre-college
experiences included being a member of Dekalb Youth Symphony, Buckhead Youth Orchestra,
Spivey Hall Children’s Choir, and participating in All State Band/Orchestra for three years.
Natalie continued her education at the College Conservatory of Music where she studied
with Mark Ostoich. Here, she was a member of the Wind Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Concert
Orchestra, and Philharmonia. Besides being a member of these groups, she gave three recitals,
competed in scholarship competitions, participated in Music Teachers National Association
and was a member of her quintet, 4+One.

After receiving her Bachelor of Music degree, she furthered her education by pursuing a
Master’s Degree at Carnegie Mellon University, under the tutelage of Cynthia DeAlmeida. While
at Carnegie Mellon, Natalie served as the Teaching Assistant for the Oboe Studio, participated
in other student's recitals, competed in chamber competitions with her quintet- Gradations of
Sound, and organized community outreach events.

Now that she has graduated from school, she currently lives in Atlanta and is expanding
her studio and pursuing professional auditions. You can find her teaching at Carere Music,
Peachtree Charter Middle School, Greater Atlanta Christian School, Atlanta Music Academy,
and Atlanta Music Project.

Meet our Faculty: Dr. Marcus Miller
Vocal Training Instructor

Dr. Marcus Miller has performed a variety of roles and appeared as a concert soloist in his native Nashville, TN, throughout the country, and internationally. He has been seen by Nashville audiences as Papageno in The Magic Flute and Count Danilo Danilovitsch in The Merry Widow. Other roles include Giuseppe Palmieri in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Gondoliers, the role of the Reverend Rufus Griswold in the world premiere of The Raven’s Revenge by Amir Zaheri. Dr. Miller’s concert solo appearances include Mozart’s Requiem with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, Fauré’s Requiem with First Presbyterian Tuscaloosa, Messiah with Lipscomb University, soloist with the Prentice Concert Chorale for Handel’s Te Deum and Brahms’ Requiem, and several others. He has served as worship minister for Antioch Church of Christ, and University Church of Christ Tuscaloosa, in addition to serving as youth choir director and soloist for First Presbyterian Tuscaloosa. Dr. Miller’s teaching experience includes positions at Lipscomb University and The University of Alabama where he completed his D.M.A. degree. He holds the position of Director of Choral and Vocal Activities and Music Theory instructor at Greater Atlanta Christian School.

Meet our Faculty: Glenda Smith
Brass Instructor

Glenda Smith is currently performing and teaching privately in the Atlanta area. Prior to returning to Georgia, she was the Director of Instrumental Music at La Salle College Preparatory School in Pasadena CA. In addition to her position at La Salle, she was a member of the faculty at East Los Angeles College as an instructor in music appreciation, music theory and brass fundamentals. She holds a Master in Trumpet Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Georgia. She is in the ABD phase of completing a Doctorate for Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from UT Austin. As a performer, Ms. Smith has performed at many Music Festivals throughout Europe, and appeared at the Jazz Festival held at the Hollywood Bowl and the Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival held at the Kennedy Center in DC. She has appeared with Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Satin Brass, Boomerang, the Venue Jazz Orchestra as well as the 6 time Grammy nominee and 3 time Grammy winning
John Daversa Contemporary Big Band.

Meet our Faculty: Grayson Saylor
Bassoon Instructor

Ms. Grayson Saylor started studying music at the age of nine with piano and soon after, fell in love with the bassoon. Ms. Saylor has performed with ensembles such as Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, and Georgia Boy Choir. She has previously held the principal bassoon position with the Kennesaw State University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Ms. Saylor received her Bachelor of Music degree from Kennesaw State University where she studied with Andrew Brady of Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Meet our Faculty: Ginevra Petrucci
Flute Instructor

Dr. Ginevra Petrucci is a flutist performer, collaborative artist, and advocate of new music projects. She has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe, the Americas, and the Far East, released numerous highly acclaimed recordings and premiered many contemporary works. She served ad guest professor at several major musical institutions throughout Europe, in the US, China, and Japan. She serves as Principal Flute at Chamber Orchestra of New York, and as Artistic Director of the Flauto d'Amore Project. Her studies include Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, Ecole Normale in Paris, and Yale University, and she holds a DMA in Flute Performance at
Stony Brook University.

Meet our Faculty: Donnell Francis

Mr. Donnell Francis has over 18 years of playing experience with the saxophone family of instruments including the sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxophones. His pre-college experiences include being a member of the Peachtree Symphonic Winds, Atlanta Concert Band, Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and the Georgia District Honor and All State Bands. Mr. Francis attended The University of Georgia on a saxophone scholarship where he studied under Dr. Kenneth Fischer and Dr. Connie Frigo. He continued his musical success as a member of the UGA Wind Ensemble, UGA Saxophone Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Winds and his Studio Saxophone Quartet. Now, a member of the Georgia Music Educations Association and Music Teachers National Association, Mr. Francis not only teaches music and saxophone at GAC, he frequently hosts masterclasses in saxophone performance and technique at area Georgia middle and high schools. He continues his performance career as a member of the Atlanta Concert Band, Peachtree Symphonic Winds, Atlanta Wind Symphony, Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra,
Gwinnett Wind Orchestra and the Northwinds Symphonic Band.

Meet our Faculty: Megan Williams
Clarinet Instructor

Megan Williams has been an instrumental music teacher for the past 15 years. She is currently serving as a teacher for Outschool online, Atlanta Music Academy and Greater Atlanta Christian School. Mrs. Williams holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from the University of Georgia where she graduated with Distinction in 2006, and again in 2013. Since becoming an instrumental teacher, Mrs. Williams has had students consistently perform with the Georgia All State Bands, District Bands, Governor's Honors program, as well as national honor ensembles. Her students have gone on to study music at Indiana University, Berklee College of Music, Northwestern University, and many other established collegiate music programs. As a performer, Mrs. Williams has been among the top clarinet players in local orchestras and community bands, and she is sought after to give instrumental clinics in schools throughout the Atlanta area. She maintains a clarinet studio locally of 30 students who perform at recitals and take local auditions regularly. Mrs. Williams currently resides in Lilburn, Georgia with her husband James, and their two daughters Isabelle (5) and Eleanor (2).
