We each engage with current events as best we can. BALAM's June e-newsletter is my response.

We need your support to match an anonymous donor's gift of the same amount and with your help will raise a total of $600 to be applied to BALAM's first salsa dance duet, Fantasia de Amor, commissioned from NYC salsa dance expert Carlos Konig. Featured as a premiere, along with the Balinese dance duet Oleg Tambulilingan, in the new program Dances of Love, East and West, this diverse program juxtaposes love dance duets from distinct island cultures and will be presented FREE on Sunday, April 28, 2-3 pm at the Fort Lee Public Library in Fort Lee, NJ.

This program is inspired by miniature Baroque works of art and manicured gardens to evoke a communion with nature and idyllic romantic adventures.

BALAM Dance Theatre's new program, 'Garden of Love in Miniature', is dedicated in memory of Gladys Isabel Fajardo Luhrs. Gladys was a Friend of BALAM, who appreciated and enjoyed classical music and dance during her life. Her goodness, integrity, and generosity were inspiring.

Harpsichordist Dongsok Shin debuts with BALAM Dance Theatre in our new program, 'Garden of Love in Miniature'.

Dongsok has been a member of the internationally acclaimed baroque ensemble REBEL since 1997. He has appeared with ARTEK, Bach Sinfonia (Washington), Concert Royal, Dryden Ensemble, Early Music New York, New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Pathenia, Pro Musica Rara, the American Classical Orchestra, and the Washington Bach Consort, among others.
