We are an academically-focused private preschool with a full day program (8am – 6pm). Class officially starts at 9:00am and dismissal is at 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Breakfast and lunch are provided to the students but they must pack their own afternoon snack, and they are given daily naptime from 12:30pm to 2:00pm. Homework is given to all students daily and can be requested ahead of time if students are
going to be away. The students are divided into three classes based on age and how much prior day-care experience they’ve had. The Beginning Class is for students who haven’t had much or any experience in day-care or other preschool and their ages usually range from 2 – 3.5 years old. The students practice their fine motor skills by learning and tracing the alphabet, basic numbers, shapes, and by doing artwork. They also learn about animals, colors, basic directions, early phonics, and professions (ex: police, doctors, firefighters, teachers) to better understand the world around them. There is also time taken out for some physical activities: crawling, rolling, tossing and catching. The Pre-K Class is for students who have had some previous experience in a day-care (ex: able to listen to and follow instructions, participate in class activities, communicate well with each other and the teacher) and for students who have completed Beginning Class. The ages in this class usually range from 3 – 4.5 years old. Their curriculum consists of: reading and writing their name and sight words, improvement on basic phonics, recognizing and counting numbers up to 30, beginning math skills, days of the week, months, weather, patterns, and much more. By the end of their year in Pre-K, students will be ready to learn Kindergarten material at an age younger than Kindergarten students. The Accelerated Pre-K Class is for students who have completed Pre-K Class. This class is more mature than the others and have much higher social skills at this age. The students’ ages range from 4.5 – 6 years old in this class. This is where they receive preparation for the Gifted and Talented test for Kindergarten in public school. They are taught phonetics (ex: long and short vowels), numbers up to 100, place values of ones and tens, basic addition and subtraction (with numeric symbols +, -, =), 2D and 3D shapes, time, recognizing coins, reading and writing more advanced sight words, ordering and sorting, advanced pattern sequences, and ordinal numbers (ex: first, second, third).
