Have you passed by the SVA Flatiron Windows recently? BFA Animation is currently displaying an exhibition of posters for corresponding short films created by graduating students. 📽️ Through the students' diverse stories and skills, this year’s thesis films and posters explore themes such as self-acceptance, relationship woes, extraordinary creatures and many others.
The SVA Flatiron Windows are viewable from the sidewalk 24/7, so you can stroll by anytime through Tuesday, June 4 to see this exhibition. Click the link in our bio for more details.

Join us tonight from 6-8pm at the SVA Flatiron Gallery for the opening reception of "Our Mother's Mothers," an exhibition of paintings, photography, sculpture and video by five students whose proposal was accepted through the SVA Galleries Call for Entries program. There's one more week to see “Mentors,” an exhibition of work by BFA Photography and Video students inspired by their working relationships with world-renowned artists, curators, editors and directors from the global arts community 👩🎨. Curated by department chair Joseph Maida, “Mentors” will be on view through Saturday, March 23, at the SVA Chelsea Gallery.
SVA presents “Us: Up Close” 🔎 an exhibition of multimedia artworks by 21 students in the MPS Art Therapy program, as well as people they work with at their internship sites and community members. Curated by Elizabeth DelliCarpini, department internship coordinator and adjunct faculty member, the exhibition will be on view from Thursday, February 21, through Monday, March 11, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery. 🔗 Link in bio for more info!
Odes to the declining coral reefs around the globe— home to one thriving ecosystems of fish, plants and sea creatures—as well as the anxiety and chaos of the current moment are represented in the form of ceramic sculptures, mixed media, texts and prints in the exhibition "From Nature to Culture." These works by SVA BFA Fine Art students are on view through this Saturday, February 24.
Marshall Arisman began teaching at SVA in 1964 and founded the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program in 1984, of which he remained chair until his passing in April 2022. This exhibition, "Does That Make Sense?", which is focused on his more personal work, was curated by Arisman’s recently appointed successor and program alumnus Riccardo Vecchio (MFA 1996 Illustration as Visual Essay), in collaboration with SVA Galleries and Arisman’s wife Dee Ito. You can view the exhibition now through March 9 at the SVA Gramercy Gallery.
“CAN’T READ THE ROOM”, an exhibition by BFA Visual and Critical Studies students, embraces the complexities in presenting a group exhibition, weaving together diverse methodologies which address a range of social, political and artistic issues within a shared context. 🪢 See it at the SVA Flatiron Gallery before Monday, February 12. All SVA Galleries will be closed from December 21, 2023 through January 1, 2024 for winter break! Additionally, the SVA Chelsea Gallery's hours will be changing in the new year. Beginning January 2, 2024, the Chelsea gallery will be open Monday by appointment only, and open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-6pm.

SVA presents “Designing Reentry: Transforming Spaces for a Fresh Start,” an exhibition of work by 24 BFA Interior Design: Built Environments students. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery. “Designing Reentry” embarks on a mission to transform the spaces that single parents and their children inhabit during the challenging process of reintegration into society after incarceration.🏡 Read more about the inspiration for this exhibition at the link in our bio!
"The Book Show," MFA Illustration as Visual Essay's annual exhibition of book projects opened on Wednesday, December 6 at the SVA Gramercy Gallery. The exhibition challenges first-year students to conceive, write and illustrate a book based on a personal experience or subject matter that is meaningful to them.
