I love that we honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a national day of service. It's such a fitting tribute to a man who tirelessly served his community. In celebration of this day I'd love to hear about your acts of service, whether big or small. Go ahead and share, and feel free to tag any organizations you volunteer with to help spread the word.

Here's mine: I'm co-chair at the Careers through Culinary Arts Program, a workforce-development nonprofit that provides underserved youth a pathway to success through culinary, job and life skills. They're an incredible organization that help over 20,000 teens a year, and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
In 2005, Ken Lombard was featured in Newsweek as one of "Ten Big Thinkers for Big Business." As an advocate for diversity and inclusion, and black entrepreneurship and ownership, Ken has provided many opportunities for black-owned businesses throughout his career. Such was the case in South Los Angeles when Ken helped revitalize the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza offering opportunities to many minority-owned businesses to become involved. Brad Johnson and Govind Armstrong's Post & Beam restaurant was created as a result, now in its 10th year of operation and the 2020 recipient of the Los Angeles Times Gold Award. Paying it forward, part of the decision to keep the restaurant in African American hands when transitioning ownership to the capable John Cleveland and his wife, Roni Cleveland, was inspired by Ken's leadership and the desire to follow in his example.

For I want to raise funds and awareness for an organization that is very close to my heart, the C-CAP - Careers through Culinary Arts Program. C-CAP has an incredible system in place that prepares 20,000 underserved students in 160 schools for careers in the professional world of culinary and hospitality. Facebook has already generously committed $25,000 to this cause and I’m looking to my fans to grow this amount further! Please give if you can.
We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to C-CAP - Careers through Culinary Arts Program students for their hard work helping our Pastry Chef Roberto to craft the Gingerbread Express! It looks incredible, down to every last, delicious detail.

Congratulations and thank you C-CAP - Careers through Culinary Arts Program Philly and Bimbo Bakeries USA.

: “THAT’S A WRAP!

After 4 weeks, 90 hours, 45 guest speakers, and about 10 field trip and lunch spots, these students have endured a Job Training experience of a lifetime.

We are so grateful to Bimbo Bakeries USA for sponsoring this program and The School District of Philadelphia for helping to make it happen.

As is C-CAP Philly tradition, we ended Job Training with mock interviews, thank you notes, and a Franklin Fountain ice cream party.

Thank you to each and every guest speaker, restaurant, and host site who helped make this experience the best Job Training we’ve ever hosted. When companies partner with us, anything is possible. THANK YOU!”

Congratulations are in order for an incredible new cookbook by star chef and C-CAP alum, ! 👏 🤩 “The fact that Brother Marcellus Haywood Luck IV is still alive to write this memoir is a in itself. The and contestant now speaks openly about his struggles with depression and how he uses cooking to work through trauma, but he didn't always have those coping skills. No Lucks Given isn't a cookbook, but this raw, unflinching account of Luck's brute-force path from a painful childhood marked by loss, through the violence and excess of youth, and suicidal ideation to get to a stable life as a and advocate is plenty good food for the soul." —K.K.
