A huge thank you to Michael Kirk Lane for joining our Next Act: Cabaret Edition class last night!
Our students got an inside look at what cabaret is all about — from storytelling and personal connection to performance style and history. We watched inspiring clips (including Michael’s interviews with legends like Chita Rivera!), performed pieces, and received amazing feedback. What a night of learning, laughter, and growth!

We’re less than $1,000 away from our $10,000 goal!
And here’s a little secret…
We did this WITHOUT one of our biggest donors from the past two years.
That means: the community did this. YOU did this.
Every dollar came from people who believe in what we’re building at Art House Astoria. This is what a vibrant arts community looks like—bold, generous, full of heart, CREATIVE, and little bit scrappy!
Let’s finish strong.

YOU GUYS!!!!!!!! Our Perform-A-Thon was a huge success thanks to YOU! We ended up having OVER 7 hours of non-stop performances, a packed house, and the most incredible feeling of community and love filled Art House from start to finish.
We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for every performer, donor, volunteer, and cheerleader who showed up to support us. YOU made this magic happen.
Now, we’re just one final push away from our $10,000 goal! We just have $1,670 to go!
Want to help us cross the finish line? Every dollar helps us build a brighter, more beautiful Art House for everyone.
Let’s do this together!

We’re excited to share the incredible impact we’re making by partnering with local schools. We were at PS85 today, where our teaching artist in residence has been inspiring young minds for the past 10 weeks. By stepping into public schools, we’re able to reach hundreds of additional students every year—students who may have never seen a live show, or had the opportunity to explore music, art, or theater classes.
Through music, art, and theater, we’re opening doors to creativity and new experiences right here in our beloved neighborhood, Astoria, Queens! These programs not only enrich their day-to-day learning but also plant the seeds of inspiration for a lifetime of discovery. We’re proud to be part of a movement that brings the transformative power of the arts into the classroom and changes lives.
YOU can help us continue to bring programs like this to our local schools by voting for our theater arts proposal included in the Participatory Budgeting vote. Check out the link in our bio. Voting starts March 29 and goes until April 4.

Art House Astoria is on the Participatory Budget Ballot! 🎭✅ Voting week begins tomorrow, March 29 and goes until April 6. Anyone 11 or older who lives, works, or goes to school in City Council District 22 can vote. You can vote online (see link in bio) or vote at the District Office located at 30-83 31st Street. The office is open Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm.
What is Participatory Budgeting?
Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that allows local residents to decide how public funds are spent. This means YOU get to vote on projects that will directly benefit our neighborhood. Winning projects receive funding from the City Council to make them a reality!
Our proposal—Theatre Arts: Empowering Our Future Through Creativity
Theatre Arts is a vital component of childhood education. Our ongoing, strategic drama programming nurtures creativity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and social skills—all essential for academic success.
This Expense Project Idea proposal is designed to bring targeted theatre arts education to upper elementary students at PS 122Q. By expanding and supporting an already robust STEAM program, we’re providing 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders (ages 8-10) with the opportunity to explore the dynamic connection between in-school learning, family life, and the wider community. With creativity and innovation as the driving force behind academic advancement, we believe that integrating theatre arts will help create a safer, healthier district and a brighter future for all.

Happy World Down Syndrome Day! Today, we’re rocking our crazy socks to celebrate inclusion, awareness, and the incredible individuals in our lives who have Down Syndrome.
Why crazy socks? The idea started because chromosomes look a bit like socks, and individuals with Down Syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. Wearing mismatched or brightly colored socks is a fun way to start conversations and show support for the Down Syndrome community.
Why March 21? This date (3/21) represents Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down Syndrome, which occurs when a person has three copies of chromosome 21 instead of two.
Join us in celebrating by showing off your socks and spreading kindness, acceptance, and love!
