About PK! “I grew up in Arusha Tanzania, My dad was a researcher there and we lived pretty far out in the countryside making it hard to visit people often. There was also a limited amount of resources and while all those were factors I probably would’ve been drawing a lot anyways haha. After that you know, lived a life, had a childhood, the whole shabang. Moved to New york in 2015 to attend the School of Visual Arts, graduated from there in 2019, Since then I’ve been working for different companies like MTV, CBS, Paramount and
Nickelodeon.”
We hosted 3 student recitals yesterday — our biggest recital day this year!! We had over 45 performances including piano, voice, guitar, drums, and our rock band 101!
Our teaching artists had a wonderful time at our residency at PS122 this year! In just 12 hours, these students wrote, choreographed, and learned a 30 minute musical titled “The Lights of Broadway”! These kids were 🔥🔥! We could not have asked for a better group. They were smart, talented, kind, supportive, and inclusive. Thanks to PS122 for having us back this year! .0q
Wow! Our Just Act! students blew us away yesterday! Congrats on an incredible (and hilarious) year-end performance!

Throw back to our World Music Event that happened last Sunday thanks to NYC Cultural Affairs, The NY City Council, and Tiffany Cabán. We had an amazing line-up of musicians, Awa Sangho, House of Waters, Simone Baron, as well as some student performers, an art exhibit, and an open house. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. And a special shout out to our favorite neighborhood photographer, Matthew Pritchard! .goetze
On Saturday one of our Seniors, Alice Drummond, performed a Senior Recital with monologues, vocal selections, and a piano piece she has worked on here at Art House over the years. We are so proud of Alice and all of her hard work. She just found out she will be studying acting at the Tish School of the Arts at NYU in the fall!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Simone Baron will be joining us tomorrow in place of Caro.
Simone Baron is a polyglot pianist, accordionist, improviser and composer whose work “ego-less, genre agnostic and without expectations” (JazzTimes) engages curiously and charismatically with a broad spectrum of idioms. Educated at Oberlin and Tel Aviv University and joyfully de-educated at festivals and performances across Europe and the Americas, Simone has won grants, fellowships and residencies from Chamber Music America, South Arts, Maryland State Arts Council, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Hambidge Center, Sacatar Foundation, iPark, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Strathmore Foundation, ArtOMI, UMD, Avaloch Farm, the Banff Centre, and Spectrum Toronto. In 2016 Simone founded Arco Belo, a diasporic chamber music ensemble. Simone is a Victoria Artist and plays a Poeta XB Accordion, and is a founding member of the Boulanger Initiative. .goetze
