Nicholas Palmquist (he/him) is an internationally recognized teacher and choreographer, currently based in Germany.
As a freelance dancer in New York City, his eclectic work experience has ranged from films like In The Heights and episodes of SNL, The Tonight Show, and Netflix Original Series; to live performances with American Dance Machine, on the Tony Awards, and with the Radio City Rockettes. Nicholas and his movement have been featured in Vogue Magazine, CFDA X VOGUE, Numero China, Dance Magazine, Dance Teacher Magazine, Tanz Magazine, Vogue Mexico, Nordstrom, Kenzo, Zalando, and at NYFW.
Since moving to Germany, Nicholas has created world premieres with Ballet x Schwerin, Semperoper Ballett, and Palucca University. He has taught Masterclasses with Juilliard, NYU, ABT Studio Company, Mozarteum University Salzburg, Staatsballett Berlin, and their educational program; Tanz Ist KLASSE! He continues to develop his genre bending movement language, and In addition to his world-famous classes at Steps on Broadway in New York City, Nicholas has accepted invitations to teach in Italy, Spain, the Philippines, France, London, Germany, Brazil, Austria, Mexico, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Paraguay, Shanghai, Japan, Slovakia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Luminous is a traveling dance workshop where the focus is on each students creative evolution. Our Educators understand the significance of their actions and words. We teach with the goal of tapping into each students creative potential, cumulating body awareness for longevity in dance, and experiencing the JOY in movement. We want our students to love learning and we aim to create a space that allows for them to experience the positive impact that dance has on the body and mind.

Destini Rogers (she/her) is an award-winning New York-based dancer, choreographer, and master teacher known for her infectious energy and artistic excellence. With roots in Oklahoma City, she’s trained in a diverse range of dance forms, from ballet and contemporary to hip-hop and Native American Fancy Shawl dancing. Her journey began at the Classen School of Performing Arts, where she started choreographing at just 14.
A Top Eight finalist on “So You Think You Can Dance,” Destini has graced stages and screens worldwide, collaborating with icons like Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, and Kanye West. Her choreography has earned her students top honors, with many continuing their dance journeys at prestigious institutions like Juilliard and NYU.
Beyond dance, Destini is a licensed CognitiveOS Hypnotherapist, guiding artists to uncover their true potential. Whether she’s leading a master class or exploring new creative avenues, Destini’s passion for creating work that brings out the best in every artist is key to her success.

Mike Esperanza (he/him) is a multifaceted creative force, celebrated for his transformative contributions to the world of dance and choreography. With an innate ability to merge contemporary aesthetics with authentic storytelling, Mike has captivated audiences worldwide. His journey began in Los Angeles and currently in New York City, where he honed his craft, drawing inspiration from urban culture and the human experience. As an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and artistic director, Mike has choreographed for renowned educational programs and companies such as WhimW’him, Noble Motion, LACDC, Urbanity, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, leaving an indelible mark on the dance landscape. Mike’s work has been described as “bold, athletic movement and theatricality – the latter clearly the coming together of Esperanza’s many talents – the company epitomizes the dance of the new millennium: shape-shifting, vernacular-blending with a prescient focus on the brave new world in which we live.” ~ Jessica Abrams, Explore Dance. Mikerecently danced for Ariana Grande at the 2024 Met Gala as well as her music video “Yes, and?”

✨DRUM ROLL PLEASE… INTRODUCING (yoga + flow state) AS A PERMANENT LUMINOUS EDUCATOR✨
Rosie DeAngelo (she/her) is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer based in Manhattan. Her work has been commissioned for the Youth American Grand Prix in NYC, and presented internationally at Micadanses (Paris), The Dance Gallery Festival, and Hofstra University. While living in New York City, Rosie has performed with Chris Masters Dance, Cameron McKinney/Kizuna Dance, Yin Mei Dance, and KEIGWIN + COMPANY. She attends a 10-day silent meditation retreat every year, and her daily meditation practice inspires her work. Rosie’s class + choreography combine contemporary dance with yoga and meditation techniques, in order to cultivate a “flow state”: quieting the brain’s default mode network (responsible for judgment, projections, anxiety), to navigate the present environment via the five senses. She believes we can only access our body’s full wisdom and potential once our minds are steady.

Bo Park is a professional choreographer and a dancer based in New York City. She has worked with top choreographers, including Keone&Mari, Brian Friedman, Kyle Hanagami, Luam Keflezgy, and more. Her dance credits include Nike, Adidas, Lil Nas X, Michael Kors, Adam Lambert, and MALUMA.
After years of teaching, Bo shifted her focus to choreography and is continuously developing her creative skills. She has choreographed for “LANKS” MV, HARMONIX “Dance Central VR,” Hideaway Circus “STARS ABOVE,” and the Immersive Dance Show “Daydreamers.” Bo recently had the chance to serve as a choreographer for Virgin Voyage’s Scarlet Night. She also worked as an associate choreographer for “Stravinsky Reimagined,” presented by Baryshnikov Arts Center.

✨NEXT UP, WELCOME BACK TO THE ONE + ONLY (hip-hop exploration)✨
Jersey native, Rob Bynes (he/him) got his roots praise dancing in church and growing up in the Jersey Club dance scene. Over the past decade in this industry, he has had the pleasure to teach over 100 classes internationally and work with many artists including Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Missy Elliot, Chris Brown, Tyla, Migos, Ciara, H.E.R, and many others. His choreography has been featured on the Renaissance World Tour and he was also a principal dancer in The Color Purple feature film. Currently Rob is on his third world tour for the third year in a row, performing with Childish Gambino.

Christina Carminucci (she/her) is a NYC-based tap dancer recognized as one of Dance Magazine’s 2022 “25 to Watch”. While earning her BBA at Pace University, she so fortunately studied, extensively, under the mentorship of Derick K Grant. The Jacob’s Pillow Tap Program alumna has since appeared in works by Grant (What Is This Thing Called Love), Dormeshia (Bessie Award Winning Rhythm is Life), and Jumaane Taylor (Supreme Love) and has performed at reputable venues including The Joyce Theater, Lincoln Center, 92Y, and the Chicago Jazz Showcase. She toured internationally with Christopher Erk’s Tap Factor performing on board the #1 rated cruise ship in the world, the MS Europa 2. In 2021, Christina created The Solidarity Series, a live performance platform dedicated to the collaboration of tap dance and jazz music, eventually garnering the recognition of the Battery Dance Festival, Chicago Human Rhythm Project, and Dormeshia Tap Collective. Passionate about sharing her love and knowledge of the form, she teaches regularly at Steps on Broadway, guest teaches at various workshops around the country and world, and hosts a free jam session the last Friday of every month in NYC. Christina is also an adjunct professor of Tap Dance at Marymount Manhattan College.

Mary Grace McNally (she/her) is a choreographer, director, and dance artist based in Los Angeles. She produced, directed, and choreographed two evening-length shows, Not For Picking (NYC) and When It Falls (LA). She was honored to receive the Capezio A.C.E. Award for Choreographic Excellence, and her work has been presented at The Joyce Theater, The Dance Gallery Festival, Young Choreographer’s Festival, CND in France, and deSingel in Belgium. Mary Grace’s choreography will be seen in upcoming feature film, Good Girl, starring Mary Beth Barone, and a new slasher movie musical, Prom Party Massacre. She was the movement director for short films, The Burning Hallucinations…, Bloom, and Alex in Wonderland. She also choreographed and collaborated with comedian and actor Benito Skinner on a promotional short for his podcast, Ride. Her dance credits include Phish at Madison Square Garden, Microsoft, music videos for Angel Olsen, Lauv, and OneRepublic. Mary Grace is a guest educator and choreographer at competitive dance studios, conventions, workshops, and universities across the country. She is guest faculty at TMilly TV, Movement Lifestyle, Broadway Dance Center, Steps On Broadway, and Peridance Capezio Center. She holds a BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts.

✨NEXT UP… THE INCREDIBLE (street jazz fundamentals)✨
Carlos Neto (he/him) began his martial arts training at the age of six, gaining recognition in national and international competitions across Europe. In 1998, he joined the cast of a primetime TV series in Portugal and made several appearances in the film industry. He moved to the UK in 2004, where he trained as a dancer and earned a BA and a Master’s Degree in International Journalism at Cardiff University. He also studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in NYC.
Carlos’s dance and choreography portfolio includes dancing in the Dutch show BLAZE, playing ‘Sudsy’ in the West End’s hit show Some Like It Hip Hop, and portraying John Travolta’s character in the Nintendo video game Grease. He has choreographed and directed for the Menudo Revival Tour, Warner Brothers, SyCo Music, Sony BMG, Atlantic Records, Britain’s Got Talent, and various NFL and NBA sports teams. He was also a featured dancer in the 2015 Bloomingdale’s commercial in the USA. Carlos has recently choreographed commercials for several brands, including Corcoran, Osteo Bi-Flex, New Jersey Lottery, Kansas Whiskey, and more.
Carlos teaches at Broadway Dance Center along with other prestigious dance schools internationally. He served as the artist director for World of Dance in the UK and is a contributor to Backstage.com. In addition, he was honored with the Best Choreography Award by the NYIT Awards for his work on an off-Broadway show.

✨THE ONE, THE ONLY (improvisation + composition) IS BACK FOR HIS THIRD SEASON WITH LUMINOUS✨
Teddy Tedholm (he/him) is a choreographer, dancer, and dance instructor based out of NYC. He has worked with artists as varied as Deborah Hay, Netta Yerushalmy, Kate Sicchio, Erica Sobol, Sidra Bell, Douglas Becker, Julie Mayo, and many others. Since receiving a BFA in Ballet from University of the Arts, he has presented work throughout the country live and on film to great acclaim. In 2021, he received the Ardsley Online Choreographic Fellowship through the Dance Gallery Festival and a grant from the New York City Artists Corps. He has created work in residence at Emma Dior Studios in Quebec, Flux+Flow in Columbus, GALLIM in Brooklyn, Mes Hall in Mount Vernon, and many others. In addition to being nominated for a “World Dance Award” for best Concert Performance, his work has been described by Dance Magazine as “anything but conventional,” by Dance Informa as “totally mesmerizing,” and as “eye popping” by the Boston Globe. In 2024, he is looking forward to choreographic residencies at Djerrasi in Woodside, California and UCross in Wyoming as well as performing “Without Fanfare,” a new work by Deborah Hay as a part of her Trio Commissioning Project.

✨THRILLED TO HAVE (movement patterns) AS A PERMANENT FACULTY MEMBER THIS SEASON✨
Amara Barner (she/her) is an experienced dance educator and multidisciplinary artist from Minnesota, who currently resides in Montreal (Tiohtià:ke) Quebec. She has worked with Rubberband Dance Company, Emma Portner, Tyce Diorio “So You Think You Can Dance,” Sia, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and more. Amara has danced in music videos such as La Force’s All That I Am, Aisha Bahdru’s Lazy River, Dominique Fils-Aimé’s Mind at Ease, and Make Believe by sickxsense. Amara was featured in Dance Magazine’s July 2020 issue as an artist “On The Rise “, and has also been interviewed for the podcast Artistic Roots, and the digital magazine Black Lights. Barner joined ‘Hit The Floor’ in 2021 and 2022 to adjudicate at their competitions in Quebec. She presented her first multidisciplinary solo entitled “mongrel” in 2021 and later adapted it for a gallery exhibition in 2022. Her second exhibition, “the interconnected network of everything and anything” was on display at the FOFA Gallery for a month in early 2023.

Emily Greenwell (she/her) is a New York City-based educator, choreographer, dancer, and certified yoga instructor. Originally from the Detroit area, Emily’s lifelong creative passion has driven her to teach and continually learn. She has traveled extensively across the U.S. and internationally, sharing her expertise through choreography, workshops, and masterclasses. Emily currently teaches at Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Center, and Luminous Dance Convention, among others. She has also taught for Intrigue, Revel, and ADE dance conventions. In addition, Emily leads the non-profit dance company CLOUDE in NYC and is certified in both yoga and acro yoga.

Byron Tittle (he/him) recently made his in Broadway debut in Tony award winning Illinoise with the music of Sufjan Stevens. His off-Broadway credits include Dorrance Dance and Illinoise at Bard and PAA. Commercial credits include Janet Jackson, Usher, Doja Cat, Hugh Jackman, Jason Mraz, and Nicki Minaj. Television/Film credits includeIn the Heights, Maestro, James Corden, Good Morning America, and the 2022 Met Gala. Recipient of a 2019 Princess Grace Fellowship in dance, Byron brings an extensive tap education as well as performance experience to the Luminous educator team!

Luminous Ambassadors are dancers who believe in the inclusive, accessible, and educational goals of the convention. These dancers wish to develop and train their skills while growing the community and getting to work with a diverse audience of dancers from around the country.
Luminous Season 3 Ambassadors must be able to attend our Summer Ambassador Workshop on August 10, 2024 in NYC as well as one (1) regional event during our 2024/2025 season.
This program is designed for those who would like to share our mission, spread the Luminous word to new audiences, receive exclusive discounts and more! During the pandemic, Nick raised and coordinated thousands of dollars to help facilitate the relationship between dance spaces, artists, students, and patrons. His unique focus on artistry, education, and musicality is admired by many and has shaped many working dancers in the direction of their dreams.
We’re thrilled to have Nick for classes with all age groups this weekend and can’t wait for you all to take in what he has to offer.
