Creative Elements

Creative Elements Creative Elements offers art classes and workshops for children as well as a few offered for adults.

Operating as usual

[03/03/18]   I decided to dust off my Creative Elements page!!! Once we began our homeschool adventure, there wasn't much time left over for teaching art classes. There still isn't! However, a lot of people have been asking about art classes in the Treasure Valley, so I thought I would offer a few whenever I can squeeze them in. This will be the page I will post the class information on. If you liked this page years ago and it is no longer relevant to you, feel free to unfollow. :) If you are new, Welcome! We just finished a basic drawing class and I am in the process of assessing the schedule and deciding when I can schedule a new class. Feel free to comment if you have any requests.

[06/11/13]   I am also going to do a clay hand-building workshop. I can't squeeze in a full series of classes. So I will just do a one day workshop demonstrating the different methods. Then you take clay home and do the hand building on your own. The price of the workshop includes clay, firing, and glazing. $25

[06/10/13]   Hope everyone is enjoying the summer! A friend of mine has offered up her home for a class later this summer. It will be a four week workshop focusing on drawing fundamentals. The dates are July 18-August 8 on Thursday afternoons from 2-3:00. It is open to elementary aged kids (may be a little too advanced for those going into kindergarten or first). The location is near Lake Hazel and Meridian Road. (I will message the address to you if you sign up for the class.) The class size is limited to about 12 kids so let me know soon if you are interested. The cost is $35 per student.

[03/26/13]   Happy Spring Break! I have a friend who wanted to bring her kids to make some clay pieces this Thursday, March 28, at 10. If anyone else would like to join us, let me know. It will be $12 to come make a pot, have it fired, return to glaze it, and then have it glaze fired. The piece is food, oven, dishwasher, microwave safe when finished. All ages are welcome. If you are bringing a younger child, it might be best for a grown up to stay and help.

[08/20/12]   I have had some people express an interest in a fall art class-- something a little more technical and challenging-- probably for kids around ages 10-14. If you would be interested let me know what would work for you.

If anyone has any other art classes you would like to see offered, let me know.

[06/18/12]   The first Drawing club is Wed at 2. If you haven't confirmed with me already please let me know if you plan on coming. You can just pay when you come.

[06/02/12]   Okay, I'm not sure if an event shows up in the news feed or not. I just posted my summer schedule as an event, so check it out if you are looking for some art this summer. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

[05/21/12]   Hi Everyone! I want to get a feel for what interest is out there for summer art. I want to meet everyone's needs, but I'm trying really hard not to over schedule my family this summer. I am planning on doing several one day workshops. I thought this would give everyone more flexibility to sign up for just the projects that interest them and the times that work. I am planning on doing some clay and drawing workshops. Let me know your feedback about what you want and days/times that work or don't work so I can plan accordingly. If you would like to be on my email list and are not, please let me know. Thanks and happy summer!

[02/07/12]   Time for a Potter's Wheel Workshop. I'm open most mornings, some evenings, and usually on Saturday. I have a few who have expressed an interest, so if you want in, let me know what time works best for you.

[12/02/11]   Just had someone ask me about doing a drawing class in the evenings for adults. . . is there any interest out there?

[10/13/11]   I didn't drop of the face of the planet. . . I was asked to start a volunteer based art program at my kids elementary school. I am so excited that there will be an art program there-- that really why I started Creative Elements. However, it has been all consuming for several months now! I think we finally have it up and going and it is not as much of a time commitment. If anyone is still wanting to do a potter's wheel workshop or studio time, I can get those scheduled now. I am holding off on any after school classes for the time being, but may offer one later in the school year.

[07/26/11]   Holy Cow! This summer is flying by way to quick! Just realized that Art in the Park is coming right up! It is only $50/family or $30 for one child. Wednesdays August 3, 10, and 17 at the Rock Hampton Sub South Park @ 9:30-10:30. If you are interested let me know!

[06/17/11]   Last call for the Potter's Wheel Workshop this Saturday. If you want to come, let me know!

[06/03/11]   Okay I had the most votes for June 18th. So if you would like in on a Potter's wheel workshop on June 18 from 10-12 let me know. Space is limited and I already have a couple of spots snagged.

[06/01/11]   For all of you wanting to do a workshop but have conflicts this Saturday, I could do one during the day on Monday and/or Saturday the 18th. Let me know if either of those times work. (ages 14 and up)

[06/01/11]   Last call for anyone wanting to do a potter's wheel workshop on Saturday at 9-11. Also Drawing and Design is coming right up. It is for ages 9-14. If you are interested in either let me know.

[05/23/11]   My next Potter's Wheel Workshop will be held Saturday, June 4 from 9:00-11:00 and costs just $10. After you take the workshop you can sign up for studio time to come make your own masterpieces! If you would like to attend the workshop, leave a comment and let me know. Space is limited. Location will be communicated via email.

[05/10/11]   I'm having so much fun with my clay class. The kids have been working hard and finally next Monday they will get to see their finished pots. They will get to have cookies and milk served in their own hand made mug while they watch a demo on the potter's wheel! Watch for pics! Don't forget to get registered if you are wanting to get in to Drawing and Design. June will be here before you know it!

[05/04/11]   Due to several unforeseen circumstances, I will be canceling the "Bounce into a Book" class. Thank you to Bounce for being so willing to host a class. I hope you all get a chance to stop in sometime! It's lots of fun.
