Happy to finally share that Patricia Cantwell and I have moved to another one of our favorite cities. We have done a summer workshop here in Jacksonville for over 25+ years . Our Charleston Creative World would not allow us to dream, so we moved to one where we can.” Certainly their loss !!!! We will miss our family and friends in the Lowcountry but as Conrad Hilton said : "Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make missteps, but they don’t quit.”
Here are some photos of our new home (pool goes in soon!) Come visit there are guest rooms ! Florida Dance Peeps --- I am close by now! I have already premiered a new work for Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Dance Theatre last week.
Life is a moving, breathing thing. We have to be willing to constantly evolve. Perfection is constant transformation. Many new adventures are on the horizon, Covid -19 Pandemic is soon going to be contained (Fingers Crossed) , and I am able to take on the many choreography commissions and Master teaching gigs I couldn't accept when We directed the professional ballet company, Charleston Ballet Center for Dance and Pre-Pro Program Coastal Ballet USA. Please reach out. My choreography website is up but new changes on the site are in the works. I can finally say yes to work easier because the strict schedule at home choreography tasks made it virtually impossible.
We will still plan ballet workshops, around the Southeast as Coastal Ballet USA. The 501c3 now qualifies to business in most Southeastern States. . A workshop will happen here in July. More details soon.
It’s a wonderful world. You can’t go backwards. You’re always moving forward. It’s the wonderful part about life. And that’s what makes it your story to tell. Love you all!😘😘😘
Jill Eathorne Bahr’s Flick of the Wrist ! Streaming still available until May 3
Posted • .ballet Let's learn more about Ava!
PB: Tell us about how you came to Project Ballet...
Ava: "I heard about PB from my coaches Jill Bahr and Patricia Cantwell. I moved here from Charleston, South Carolina.
I had been here before for rehearsals so I was able to see how well the dancers were trained. Also, project ballet was incredibly accommodating of my situation as far as joining mid year and finding a place for me to live."
PB: What has been hardest part about moving away from home?
Ava: "The hardest things have been leaving friends and family and beginning the process of regaining my strength and technique since I wasn't dancing full-time due to the pandemic."
PB: What have you enjoyed so far about Project Ballet?
Ava: "Being in a studio where I have dancers to look up to and who push me to be better. I haven’t been here long but I feel like the instructors give very specific corrections that I’m able to visualize and apply."
PB: What advice would you give a dancer considering coming to Project Ballet?
Ava: "I think if you are considering coming to Project Ballet you should just take the leap and do it. They care about and focus on each individual dancer. They’ve created so many opportunities for me to work with trainers and teachers individually and build a schedule to help me get to where I want to be. I’ve only been here a few weeks and so many people have already put so much effort into my training and making me feel welcome. I’m really grateful to Project Ballet and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves ballet."
We are so happy to have Ava training with us! Thanks for following us this week!

I had a wonderful opportunity of working with this visionary rest in peace. I am sharing Project Ballet‘s post. Posted • .ballet “The ballet world lost a precious jewel last night. My teacher, Shir Lee Wu, has passed away. Because of her, I fell in love with ballet. As a student, I idolized her. As an adult, we became great friends. She was so helpful and generous in the early years of Project Ballet’s history. I will miss her so much. I will miss our trips to New York. I will miss her shoes. I will miss her love of beautiful things. I will miss her quick, smart commentary. I am who I am today because of Shir Lee Wu. There’s no way to adequately put into words the impact she had on my life. She is responsible for the entire direction of my life. Thank you, Shir Lee, for everything.”
