It only took a little over a year, but Mr. Nate and Mr. Andy finally (unplanned) wore the same outfit from the shoes and socks to the glasses and masks. Like two peas in a pod, these two ensure that there is never a dull moment at school!

Watching your little ones enjoy discovering and exploring the natural world around them can be rewarding. Now, you can help your children bring a bit of nature with them wherever they go using this discovery bottle craft, which encourages the development of science and fine motor skills as you and your children have a whole lot of fun!

A big thank you to the Mount Pleasant Police Department Canine unit and our friend Officer Paula Wilson for bringing Harley to visit us. We really enjoyed learning about how Harley assists her human partner.

We also enjoyed being able to turn on the lights and sirens and sit in a real police car!

We are truly blessed with some amazingly talented and generous parents! Today Peter and Lina's mom (aka Leslie) treated the children to excerpts from the opera Hansel and Gretel. Mr. Nate did an excellent job as a rather quiet Hansel.

The children were able to practice vocal warmups, see what a real opera score looks like and even hear a song in German.

Leslie was mobbed by her fans after the performance!!!

Our Resource Room is constantly home to exciting, educational, and fun events! We have loved being able to enjoy our performances from the Charleston Academy of Music all summer long in this space. When it gets too hot out or Mother Nature is not cooperating with us, we burn energy and put our brains to work in different ways ranging from building castles with Mr. Andy to giant parachute adventures! Our classes have been able to utilize the space for engaging exercise activities with one of our Directors - Ms. Carrie too. We are so appreciative of all the creative ways our teachers utilize this space and for the on-going partnerships that we have using it too!

Puzzles are a great way for you and your child to problem-solve together! Pull out all of your child’s puzzles and choose one to do each day. Talk about the images you see as each puzzle takes shape. For an added challenge, make your own puzzles by cutting magazine pages, old calendar photos, posters and more into five or ten pieces.

Our School-Aged Summer Camp students rocked it out at the Isle of Palms County Park today! We hosted a sand castle building contest, and we feel that everyone was a winner from how deep the moats were dug and how high the castles were built. We found some buried treasure (aka Pirate's Booty) at the beach, and we got our toes wet in the surf. The only thing that was missing was having Mr. Nate get buried in the sand!

A big thank you to Officer Paula Wilson of the Mount Pleasant Police Department for coming in to read "A Sloth Called Bob" to all of our Goddard friends. We learnt how we can all be super heroes when we help one another!

We look forward to her next visit, along with the canine unit.

We are constantly exploring the world around us, and we love getting to continue to interact with nature and all of its bounty every day. The big rain storms last week had a larger reptilian friend arrive at our front door. While we ensured the turtle's safe return to its natural habitat, we wanted to have a teachable moment for our children about the importance of taking care of one another and all living creatures. Gary the Rabbit was a little jealous of all the attention the huge turtle was getting!

We are so thankful that Mother Nature has cooperated with us for some eventful Water Wednesdays this summer! While the summers can be scorching during a Charleston Summer, we are always looking for fun, engaging ways to beat the heat. Water Wednesdays and other water-related events/experiences offer a manageable way for our team members to facilitate their lesson plans and enjoy some much deserved water fun too!

From exciting inflatable sprinklers to interesting water table sensory exploration to Mr. Andy's genius wall-mounted sprinkler system, there is never time for a dull moment this summer!

We had so much fun Cooking with Ms. Mary! The classrooms made some delicious homemade guacamole and salsa. The only part of the day that was better than making the food was getting to enjoy it for afternoon snack with some yummy tortilla chips.

Our classrooms also celebrated National Eat Your Vegetables Day on 6/17! The importance of having a well-balanced diet cannot be understated at all ages of development. Our Preschool 1 Classroom took this day to the next level by learning about the difference between herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. Rumor has it that Mr. Nate is actually a Donut-ivore, for he can never say no to a sweet treat!
