Had around 36 kiddos today who came and made UV bracelets with me and participated in the mini art hunt for Elgin Days. This is my third year of being a part of the celebration. It is always great to be in my hometown and get to see people and families that I have known for years as well as some new faces. I am always happy to be close to the museum and keep little ones entertained while their parents or grandparents look at the exhibits. It is always a fun time. Thank you to the Elgin Lions and Steven Schadler for the invite! I look forward to next year!
***Here are some of the 6 pieces that I created for the Mini Art Hunt. They were all hidden outside within the museum complex. The kiddos who participated in creating a bracelet were given the opportunity to look and find an art piece and if they found one they could keep it. It was a lot of fun for all the kiddos and those who found the art creations were thrilled! I absolutely love teaching these art classes and hosting mini art hunts for community events and have several more planned this summer!

The mobile art studio is loaded and ready to go for the week! Made a flying trip home to Mott to collect the art projects that the Medina Public School students have created over the past 7 weeks for the art show on Friday and some other things that I need this week. Will be teaching in Gackle, Pingree-Buchanan and Medina. It is going to be a great week! Doing what I love best!

This week at Pingree-Buchanan Schools, I helped students create acrylic paintings on canvas. The elementary students created “Spring Lilacs” and the high schoolers painted an “Ode to Bob Ross” with some happy little trees on a simple landscape background. Everyone had a lot of fun and hopefully learned a little about different painting techniques and terminology.

What an amazing way to end the week! Spent today with the elementary students at Medina Public School and helped them create some awesome oil pastel pictures. Showed them one of my secret “magic” tricks that made blending so much easier! All these masterpieces will be showed at the art show which is in just two weeks on April 29! Great job kiddos!

Huge shout out to the Elgin Lions and Steven Schadler who invited me to teach an art project for the kiddos who attended the Easter Egg Hunt today in Elgin! What a fun afternoon! I helped 44 young artists from age 2 to 14 create some adorable Easter Egg Paintings with acrylic paint and bubble wrap! What a blast!

First Sunday of the month means art class in Bismarck for the clients of New Freedom Recovery Center! Because I am tired of winter and ready for springtime, I had them create a Spring Flowers acrylic painting. As always I was very impressed with the individual creative expression of everyone in the group and what they created with just a little guidance and encouragement.

Spring Flowers was the theme of an acrylic painting that I helped the elementary students at the Medina Public School create last Friday. These kiddos all did amazing job! These creations will be on display with all of the other masterpieces they create with me at the end of the month at the Art Show in Medina. Can’t wait!

On March 26, I had the pleasure of going to Scranton ND to meet the members of the Range Riders 4H Club. I gave them a short lesson on bees and honey production in ND and then taught them how to make beeswax taper candles. Each artist made two of them. Thanks to Misty and her crew for the invite! See you again soon!

On March 23rd in conjunction with family game night at the Mott-Regent School, students were able to display their printmaking projects that they created along with me during an art residency in March at an Art Show. Everyone did a wonderful job!

Glass fusing is something that I have wanting to teach for a long time during an arts residency and when I started planning my classes for the amazing students at Medina this year, I knew the time had come! Why was I hesitant? Because frankly, it is a lot of work! Prepping the glass. Cutting all the 2inchx2inch squares. Cutting all the design glass and then firing all the projects afterwards. But I knew that these young artists would love this project and guess what? They did! Everything went wonderfully! And they created some amazing designs. Every spare minute I am at home will be spent firing these outstanding projects! Great job kids! Can’t wait for everyone to see them at the arts show at the end of April!

Today I am prepping for the glass fusing class that I am teaching in a couple of schools over the next few weeks. I am so excited about this class and can’t wait to see what the kids create! For reference- I am cutting 2x2 inch squares of glass that will be the base of this project. There is a ton of prep work involved with this class but I know it will all be worth it seeing how excited the kids will be to learn about a new art form!

I braved the questionable road conditions today to drive to Bismarck to teach the regular monthly class that I do at New Freedom. Made it there safely and was blown away by the quality of the projects that were created by today’s students. Following along with the current printmaking theme that I am doing in a lot of my classes, today’s lesson was on lino printing. Everyone did an amazing job on their designs, the carving and the printing! I am so impressed with this group and how talented they are! Always look forward to my time spent here!

What a crazy week! Lived through another blizzard and experienced road closures throughout the whole state of ND. I was still able to teach art at the Mott-Regent school for the high schoolers on Thursday. School was let out early so I will be back there this next week to do this project with the 7th and 8th graders. These amazing young artists worked with gelli plates for printmaking and they each created 5 prints that will be bound into a little booklet of “mini masterpieces.” everything that the students from the Mott-Regent school have created with me will be on display at the Art Show on March 23rd during Family Game Night. if you are local please consider coming and seeing what these young artists have worked so hard to create!

On Friday March 4, I started an 8 week artist in residence program where I will be teaching at the Medina School once a week! I absolutely love to reconnect with the amazing young artists at this school and can’t wait to see the masterpieces that we are able to create together in the next few weeks! Week #1 project was “Ode to Bob Ross” students learned about several new techniques when working with acrylic paint including dry brushing and the much dreaded splatter! They also learned how to make “happy little tress!” Didn’t get a lot of great pics but will try to do better this week.

On Thursday March 2, 2023 I had the pleasure of being an artist in residence at the Mott-Regent School for their elementary students. The class I taught was on monoprinting and the project we did was “sandpaper” printing. These masterpieces will be on display during family game night on March 23 at an art show in the lunch room! Hope everyone comes and takes a look at what these young artists created!

Today was an amazing day with a very energetic group of 26 kiddos who came to the Legion hall in Carson ND and completed an oil pastel drawing of a flower. what a fun time! Everyone did a fantastic job! They also learned about different kids of mediums that artists use to create their art work! What a fun afternoon! What beautiful flowers!

Fun afternoon! I taught an art class today on making beaded bracelets. I had the kiddos use UV beads to create either an anklet or a bracelet that will hopefully serve as a reminder to use sunscreen and reapply regularly. The beads start out as white inside and they changed to all kinds of different colors when they are exposed to sunlight (UV rays) I taught this class through the summer rec program in Carson ND. I am still taking bookings to teach art classes for summer rec programs, 4H or youth groups or community celebrations. Contact me directly if you are interested in having me come and teach a art class for children or adults.
