Today was an absolutely amazing day!!! Spent the day with my student artists from the Wing, ND school. Elementary kiddos created First Name Scratch Art and the jr high and high school created Spin Art! We had a blast making and creating art today! And I am impressed even though I taught this somewhat messy project all day long - I only came home with a little paint on my clothes. Just one tiny spot on my shirt. Oh yeah and all the blue paint that ended up in my hair because someone had a happy trigger! Lots of laughs today. This is the reason I love what I do! I will post the videos in a separate post.

This last Wednesday I traveled to Glen Ullin to create art with my elementary student artists. This is my second year teaching at this school and it was great to the kiddos again and also see some new faces! The lesson was on color theory and students created a first name Scratch Art with a twist! Can’t wait to see everyone in October! On a side note - doesn’t the collaborative art project that I had them do last fall look great? They hung it by the entrance to the elementary section of the school. Great job kiddos!

On Thursday I traveled to Hebron ND to start an art residency at the Hebron Public School. This is a new school for me this year. Things went fantastic! My new student artists learned about “the rules for the art room” (the most important one being is they are all artists) and they created some very cool Name Scratch Art projects. I am so excited to get to know these kiddos and the staff better and to help these kiddos create some amazing art masterpieces this school year! See you next month!

Art teacher struggles - what am I supposed to do with all these white crayons??? Can’t use them for the project this month. Hate to just throw them away. Guess I will put them in the “don’t know what to do with them but hate to throw them away box.”

Another fantastic day! Taught art at the Hettinger Public elementary school today. This is my second year teaching at this school. The students and faculty at this school are absolutely amazing and my student artists there are so talented. So proud of everything they created today! The theme for this month is color theory. They created some great name scratch art paintings. Great job everyone. See you next month!

Another amazing day with my student artists from the Mott-Regent public school. This is my third year teaching an art residency at this school. The kiddos did a great job learning about color theory today and creating their name scratch art masterpieces! Great job everyone! See you next month!

Last Saturday I spent an amazing afternoon teaching Spin Art to my student artists at New Freedom Recovery Center in Bismarck. This class is always a hit and I am so pleased with how everyone’s masterpiece turned out! Great job everyone!

Last Friday I spent the day with my student artists at the Napoleon school. This is my second year teaching an art residency there. I am always impressed by the talent of these young people! They do a great job! We learned about color theory and created a name scratch art project. Great job kiddos! See you next month!

Art residencies for the 2024-2025 school year started last Wednesday. I had my first class of the school year at Hillcrest Elementary in Jamestown. This is my second year at this school. This is a small but very talented group. They learned about color theory and created a scratch art name project. See you next month!
