March Madness is here! And so is Excel’s 5th Annual Workout Challenge (“WC”) being held Sun Mar 18 morning at the Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park. The WC is broken into four segments so participants can choose to do all or just part of the swim. The only requirements are that participants are 18 years of age or older, can swim (obviously!), and that everyone bring an enthusiastic attitude! Join in on Long Island’s largest swim and take advantage of motivating large-group training dynamics for an awesome morning of fitness and fun!

I’ve been telling my teams this for years - “Stretching before workouts is for the 1950s” 😜 long periods of static stretching fatigues proprietors and neurological means of force development. High intensity performance and power output (think explosiveness) is decreased by static stretching. Increase body temp through general warmup and specific movements instead. STRETCH AFTER WORKOUT OR COMPETITION WHEN MUSCLE TEMPS ARE HIGH. It is more effective and won’t decrease your performance during the workout or competition.
