[06/29/21]   Dear Early Childhood Providers and Friends of 4C,

On Friday, June 25, 2021, our team suffered a terrible loss. Our YoungStar Quality Coach, Ms. Bettie Wells passed away unexpectedly. Bettie was a dedicated early childhood professional, and we will miss her greatly.

We understand this message may be difficult to process. We will share any plans to celebrate the accomplishments of Ms. Bettie Wells and all of the positive impact and influence she has had on the field during her long-term career in Early Childhood.

Respectfully,
4C For Children

Beech-Nut announced a voluntary recall of one lot of Beech-Nut Stage 1, Single Grain Rice Cereal as well as a decision to exit the market for Beech-Nut branded Single Grain Rice Cereal. For more information, please see this message from U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as an email sent this morning from the WI DPI Community Nutrition Team, #CACFP #WIChildCare

Beech-Nut issued a voluntary recall of one lot of Beech-Nut Stage 1, Single Grain Rice Cereal with expiration date 5/1/22 (product codes 103470###X & 093470###X) with elevated levels of inorganic arsenic. https://go.usa.gov/x6KYj

FDA issued final guidance on an action level of 100ppb for inorganic arsenic in infant rice cereal in 8/2020. Historically, we have found that action levels are effective tools in helping to lower levels of toxic elements in foods that babies & young children eat.

FDA’s action plan, Closer to Zero, makes clear that FDA takes the safety of foods eaten by babies & young children seriously. This recall demonstrates the agency’s commitment to work with manufacturers to reduce toxic elements in foods to the lowest levels possible.
