At The Goddard School - Midlothian - Robious Station we know that a common concern for many families is how to handle challenging behaviors that children may develop like biting, tantrums and defiance. These sometimes-frustrating behaviors can also feel isolating, but you’re not alone! On March 14 at 1 PM ET, join other families and Dr. Lauren Starnes, SVP and Chief Academic Officer at Goddard Systems, for a free webinar on these behaviors, why they’re happening and how you can guide your little ones through them.

We had SO much fun learning, reading, and creating with this week's theme! "Pete the Cat" was such a hit with the kiddos (and the teachers too)!
Stay active in winter — no matter the weather — with some of these fun indoor activities!

🔺Create shapes on the floor with painter’s tape. Then give your children directions like “Crawl to the triangle” or “Hop in the square.” This helps them with gross motor skills and shape recognition.

🎵 Dance! Put on some of your favorite music and let loose. Make up silly moves and try to copy each other. Your little ones will love laughing and dancing with you.

🧘Try introducing yoga. Start with child-friendly poses like cat and cow, bridge, happy baby, downward facing dog and tree.

📚 Build an obstacle course — use what you have on hand like pillows to jump on or painter’s tape to create a “balance beam.”

Happy National Kid Inventors’ Day! Take a look at these Goddard students’ big ideas that may inspire your little inventors’ creativity and imagination at home!
Looking for a way to get your child game-day ready? Here are a few of our favorite football activities that get your little athletes moving.

Warm-ups like high marches, heel walks, walking backwards and crossover steps.
Balance drills like standing or hopping on one leg.
Celebrate by making up your own touchdown victory dances — the sillier the better!

Check out The Goddard School® website for other fun indoor activities. https://bit.ly/3VCzcpf
If one of your 2023 goals is to spend more time together as a family, try starting an activities jar. Simply write out some fun things you and your family would like to do this year on individual slips of paper and put them in a jar. Place the jar in a spot where you’ll always see it and plan to use it throughout the year. Be sure to take pictures or save mementos so your family can look back on the fun times you’ve had!

Visit The Goddard School® website for a downloadable list of activities that will help get your family time jar started: https://bit.ly/3VCzcpf

Teaching young children how to self-regulate their emotions is a crucial part of early childhood development, and it’s something that needs to be practiced. One way to help is by modeling what to do when big feelings arise. If your little ones struggle with big feelings like frustration, anger, anxiety or hyperactivity, here are ways to help them self-regulate.
