Championships are great but more importantly… our goal is to have every athlete within OHAA have the best athletic experience possible and we strive daily to achieve this goal!
We started this association to serve all the children who reside in the Old Hundred School District. Our objectives, “ to extend, promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist the youth in various sports, while stressing the importance of teamwork, leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and fair play.”
We will continue to improve as an association to provide the best athletic experience for your student athlete and entire family!!!
As always….. GO HAWKS!

When we got this very pregnant mama dog she came from the shelter with the name Faith. We went straight to the vet with her and were told we already had a “Faith” in the vet’s computer system. The more dogs we rescue, the more this has been happening. And although we thought Faith was an appropriate name, in order to cut down on confusion, we decided to give her a brand new, never-before-used-by-Sanctuary-Rescue name. And right in the moment it occurred to me that we were right across the street from the Primrose School of Swift Creek, and what a pretty, Southern name Primrose would be! Our friends at both the Primrose School of Swift Creek and Primrose School of Midlothian at Waterford have been so wonderful, and helpful, and supportive of us, it just seemed perfect. So Faith became Primrose right then, and later during our appointment we learned that not only was her belly full of seven puppies, but her chest and shoulders were full of pellets from being shot. She also has a large scar on one of her arms (legs?) from an old injury that causes her to drop her paw when she walks. And to add to her growing list of health issues, she was also found to be heartworm positive. Pretty Pretty Primrose (that’s a totally official name) has clearly lived a pretty difficult life before ending up very pregnant in a not-so-great shelter. But here’s the thing, she’s as friendly and loving as a dog could be. That’s always my favorite thing about these dogs that have seen the worst of humans; they forgive and forget so graciously. But you guys know what happens for Primrose now, nothing but the best, baby!
And then a few days later Pretty Pretty Primrose gave birth to seven GORGEOUS puppies, and we didn’t know what in the world to name them. We like to stick to a theme but were at a loss what theme to build around the name Primrose. So I called my friend, Leighanne, who just so happens to own the Primrose Schools, and said, Hey, I need you to come name these puppies pronto! And so she came over to visit these namesake puppies and gave each of them sweet, carefully-chosen names. And much in the same way we wanted to name this perfect angel mama dog Primrose to say thank you for all of your love and support, Leighanne decided to name each of the puppies for some beloved Primrose employees as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation. So we’re proud to introduce you to Primrose and her spectacular seven: Chilly, Jennie, Larry, Joy, Andy, Marlin, and Benjie (the Primrose mascot).
Unfortunately I still don’t know who is who, but I bet if we ask nicely foster mom will come through and label each puppy for us. All the puppies are doing well and are thriving. They’re big fatties, and we’re sure they’ll end up bigger than their 26-pound mama.
And just when we thought this group of sweet poopie woopie muffin tooties couldn’t get any cuter, our friends at Brittany Rose Photography emailed and said, Hey, we got some new puppy props we want to try out; do you have any newborns we could photograph? Uh, yeah!! Can you even handle these pictures? They are AH-MAZING! If you ever need pictures, you know where to go.
Enjoy!
Are you planning to be open on Tuesday, 12/11?
A very special thank you to Primrose for sponsoring our inaugural Character Breakfast to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond! As a Primrose family for more than 7 years (and as president of the board at RMHC), I am truly grateful for all that you do to take care of our children and to support the community. I hope to see some Primrose families there on Nov. 17th!
Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication in keeping our kids safe today! There is no way that it’s easy keeping all of those young kids calm and occupied! It’s very comforting knowing our kids are in such good hands!
Sapphire, the three-legged wonder, wanted to thank everyone for their donations and for sending food from our wishlist. Poor thing had to eat “adult food” for dinner last night because I absentmindedly sent the last bag of puppy food with the four new puppies to their foster home. Twelve giant hound puppies completely wiped out all of our supplies. We also have to give a very special thank you to our friends at Primrose School of Swift Creek and Primrose School of Midlothian at Waterford for the generous donation they sent. It came right at the perfect moment and we can’t thank them enough for loving kids AND puppies. Thank you, everyone, for keeping us going for another month!
