At the end of each school year, our curriculum reflects on our students' growth in their artistic expression and technical skills!

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, Ivybrook Academy focuses on documenting students' artworks by preserving their projects throughout their preschool journey.

What are loose parts?

Unlike traditional toys with specific functions or instructions, loose parts are materials intentionally chosen for their versatility and ability to encourage creativity and inventiveness. With students leading their own learning, loose parts can inspire anything from artistic masterpieces to engineered structures!

By providing open-ended materials like natural elements and everyday objects, we encourage endless possibilities for imaginative play and exploration.

In the Reggio Emilia philosophy, families are seen as an essential part of a child's education journey. Their active involvement enriches the learning experience, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration.

At Ivybrook Academy, we celebrate the invaluable role of families in co-creating a nurturing environment and invite parents to be part of their child's learning environment.

At Ivybrook Academy, we offer half-day classes for preschoolers and introduce a lifelong love of learning through our innovative curriculum inspired by Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and the Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

From 18 months to transitional kindergarten, we offer a nurturing environment for students to begin their educational journey.

Secure your child's spot for the 2024-25 school year where curiosity comes to life! https://buff.ly/3T8IrA6

Our curriculum goes beyond just teaching math and science concepts. Guided by the Montessori approach, we integrate hands-on exploration for students to grasp scientific ideas through sensorial activities.

One way we introduce science is through baking, in which students learn:
🌱 Measurement and quantity while practicing fine motor movements
🌱 Chemical changes from solid ingredients, like flour, transforming into liquid, like batter, before undergoing physical changes during cooking, like the dough rising
🌱 Nutrition by understanding different food groups

During our summer camp programming, we host a whole week centered around kitchen science! https://buff.ly/49yQgnW

Enrollment is still open for our 2024 Preschool Summer Camp, which blends fun with learning!

Choose the weeks that work best with your family's summer schedule or enroll your child to join us for all of them!

Our camp is Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and features a different theme each week.

Montessori materials differ from other early learning methods due to their unique sensory focus, which incorporates the use of fine motor skills.

One of the Montessori materials we use at our preschool is metal insets, which allow children to practice concentration and develop their pencil grip while learning to draw within an outline.

Ivybrook Academy's half-day class structure offers the ideal blend of learning and play for preschoolers.

With different weekly options, families can customize their child's schedule to fit their needs.

Half-day sessions allow students to explore the school environment, socialize with peers, and develop a love for learning, while still having plenty of time for rest, extracurricular activities, and family time.

As part of our Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum, art is more than just creative expression— it's a language of exploration, discovery, and communication.

Art teaches students:

🌱 Innovation - Reggio Emilia encourages the use of open-ended art materials that allow for endless possibilities and interpretations.

🌱 Self-Expression - Art projects are often initiated based on the children's interests, questions, and experiences. Teachers observe and listen to the children, incorporating their ideas into the artistic curriculum.

🌱 Collaboration - Children work together on projects, share materials, and discuss their creations. These interactions encourage communication, cooperation, and social skill development.

Summer camp registration is open! We are excited to offer six weeks of camp, all with a different theme. Visit our website to register your child today!

Unlike traditional summer camps, our program provides exploration-based themed activities that encourage learning while having fun.

From exploring science to unleashing creativity through art, our camps are designed to spark curiosity, encourage peer interactions, and continue the foundation of early childhood education.

Don't let the learning stop when the school year ends. Explore this year's themes and give your child an enriching summer they'll never forget: https://www.ivybrookacademy.com/our-programs/preschool-summer-camp/

Our children learn the value of teamwork and collaboration within the walls of our classrooms. In group activities, students work on projects that require joint effort and contribution.

Guided by the Montessori approach, these peer-to-peer interactions allow each child to practice negotiation and compromise, laying the foundation for positive social interactions.

In the Reggio Emilia approach, the classroom is often referred to as the "third teacher" (after parents and teachers).

With this philosophy in mind, the layout of our classrooms is carefully designed to promote curiosity and independence. By providing access to materials at their height, students are inspired by self-directed exploration and are invited to engage in meaningful activities.

Our approach to teaching math emphasizes the connection between the senses and learning.

Students are guided through activities that involve touch, sight, and sound to reinforce mathematical concepts while using manipulatives like number rods, counting beads, and geometric shapes.

As part of our Discovery Program, we teach students about creative expression. Through the exploration of various artistic styles, mediums, and tools, we help children connect how and why works of art communicate visual meaning.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our curriculum places emphasis on documenting a child's learning process by saving their artistic projects. It presents a great opportunity to observe how they progress and develop their creativity and skills throughout their childhood.

For American Education Week, we're celebrating all of the individuals who contribute to our students' education, including the parents, members of our community, and, of course, our teachers and staff!

Thanks to everyone for providing a solid foundation for our students' lifetime of learning.

The Montessori approach emphasizes the importance of practical life activities that children can observe in their daily lives, like pouring, scooping, threading, and sweeping. They teach our students self-sufficiency with a "do it myself" mentality.
