I am truly humbled this evening by the outpouring of support from the Mequon-Theinsville community. Thank you for entrusting me to serve as a member of the MTSD Board of Education.
From day one I was committed to unifying the community because I care about our children, their future and our community. I want our schools to reflect the community and what we value and I want the greatest opportunities possible for our children.
I would be remised if I did not thank my wife Amy Levash, our boys, my running mate Paul Buzzell For Mequon-Thiensville School Board, and my family and friends for their support. Special thanks to all of the individuals who hosted meet and greets, made phone calls, distributed flyers, made donations, put signs in their yards and spread the word about my candidacy. I could not have done it without all of you!
I look forward to serving all students, parents, community members and staff with respect, empathy and transparency.
Thanks - Jason

That’s a wrap. Win or lose today, I can lay my head down tonight knowing I ran an honest, hardworking, and positive campaign built on truth and integrity and for that I am at peace. While I hope more than ever that I will have the opportunity to serve the Mequon-Thiensville communities on the Board of Education, if I don’t get elected, I know it wasn’t due to my tireless effort or my character.
Thank you to everyone who helped my campaign and to get the word out to vote. I am truly humbled by the support I have received and thankful for all the new people I have met while campaigning. I especially could not have gone on this journey without the amazing support of my wife, Amy, and our two boys who have sacrificed many nights and weekends to be by my side flyering and helping my campaign.
I am an extremely blessed man, husband and dad!
Let’s do this!!🙌🏻

My grandfather served on the Brillion Board of Education for multiple terms. He recently passed away and today while we were going through his belongings, I came across his golden apple and school bell that he received in recognition of his board service. These are two items I will cherish and remember him with fondness. 🍎🔔
He passed away before he could see me advance in the primary and before this April election. Throughout my whole campaign, it has been my goal to run with the same integrity as he had himself. It is my hope and prayer that I have made him proud!

Like you, we all have a story. Well my "Why" behind wanting to serve the community on the MTSD School Board is grounded in ensuring that my boys have a great school system like the generations of family members before them.
My wife Amy, our two boys and I have been living in Mequon since the summer of 2019, but our family ties to Mequon go back generations. Amy grew up in Mequon and graduated from Homestead High School. Her parents also grew up in Mequon and were in the 4th graduating class of Homestead High School in 1965. It’s pretty amazing to know that our children will go through the same school district as Amy’s parents, her aunts and uncle, her siblings and herself (and currently our nieces and nephews)! Talk about an awesome family legacy!
Not only do I care about my boys I am running because I care about all children, their future and our community.
Vote Jason P. Levash for the MTSD School Board.

The Mequon and Thiensville communities need to elect a UNITER, to the school board, not a divider.
Jason will work to bring our communities back together in support of our children by being:
✅Respectful
✅Empathic
✅Transparent
Jason Will NOT:
📌alienate portions of the community
📌stop listening to other people's points of view
📌spread misinformation
📌let outside influences impact our district
📌use our schools to advance partisan politics
From the day Jason announced his candidacy, on 11/30/21, he has stayed true to his why: "I am running because I care about our children, their future and our community. I want our schools to reflect the community and what we value and I want the greatest opportunities possible for our children. Being united as a community is critically important and I want our board to engage the community so every child can succeed."

📌 We have received multiple reports (again) of signs being taken from yards in subdivisions across the city. We did not take any signs down after the primary. If your sign has disappeared from your yard and you need a new one, please let us know and we will replace it for you.
EDIT to ADD: If you find your yard sign is taken from your yard, please contact the Mequon Non-Emergency Police Department. Any video footage would be even better, but they will take any reports of yard sign theft. Unfortunately, the police said this is something that is happening more frequently these days, which is sad that we cannot show support for our candidate without the risk of having a sign taken or damage done.

It is concerning when a school board candidate can not present the simple facts.
It was stated that I receive my paycheck from the “state department of education” and I am an “employee of the West Bend School District - - a CESA 6 administrator”
Let’s set the record straight…
📌 I am proud of my service to children and families through my career in education!
📌 I started my career in the Cedarburg School District where I was a technology education teacher at Webster Middle School. I then went on to serve in various district level administrator roles for 7 years in the West Bend School District. For the last 4.5 years I have had the opportunity to impact students across the region, state and nation through my role as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of CESA 6.
📌 CESA 6 is a non-profit, member-driven cooperative educational service agency that predominantly serves K-12 public school districts with needs they do not have internal capacity to meet. The business model of CESAs is entrepreneurial in nature since no direct funding is provided by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI). Instead revenue is generated through the delivery of services in an open market. CESA 6 is headquartered in Oshkosh and has 39 school district owner/members in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Outagamie, Washington, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago counties. The Mequon-Thiensville School District is a member of CESA 1. MTSD has had contracts in the past with CESA 6 but does not have any at the current time. In the event that District administration recommends a contract with CESA 6 before the Board for approval, I would abstain from the vote. MTSD has a board delegate to CESA 1 just like the 39 member districts of CESA 6 do; these elected officials govern the CESA through their respective CESA boards of control.
📌 So no, I am not receiving my paycheck from the Wisconsin Department of Education nor am I currently employed by the West Bend School District. As an electorate we need to question everything stated as one could be easily mislead if we take everything for fact.
📌 The fact is I am an educational professional with a career of service and a DAD of two young boys. I will be a Champion for STUDENTS, a Representative of PARENTS, a Steward for the COMMUNITY and an Advocate for STAFF.
📌 Be informed. Be engaged. VOTE April 5th!

I believe it is the responsibility of board members to correct misinformation. As a board candidate, I will model this behavior when misinformation is brought to my attention.
Let’s stick to the FACTS
What was said: “Jason has only lived in Mequon for two and a half years.”
✅ Fact: Jason and his wife, Amy, contracted to build a house in April 2018 and moved-in June 2019. Amy is from Mequon and attended MTSD K-12. Both of Amy’s parents grew up in Mequon and were in the 4th graduating class of Homestead High School.
What was said: “His children have never attended MTSD as he chose to send them to Lumen Christi.”
❌WRONG
✅ Fact: Jason’s 3 year old son is currently enrolled in the district’s Early Childhood Program at Donges Bay. Jason’s oldest is in 4K at Lumen Christi, but has been receiving speech therapy at Wilson Elementary since September 2019.
What was said: “The first board meeting he ever attended was this past December after announcing his candidacy.”
❌WRONG
✅ Fact: Jason began attending MTSD board meetings VIRTUALLY on May 17, 2021. He attended the district’s annual meeting IN-PERSON on July 26, 2021. Jason consistently attended virtual board meetings until beginning in-person meetings in December 2021.
What was said: “The only district knowledge he has is from what he has learned from his running mate Paul. While he has a nice résumé, I would prefer a School Board member that has more experience in our district.”
❌WRONG
✅ Fact: Dr. Joynt, Superintendent, Dr. Clark, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, and Ms. Zelazoski, Executive Director of Human Capital graciously accepted Jason’s request to meet with them individually to build his contextual knowledge of the district. That coupled with Jason’s working knowledge of school district systems and educational topics and issues as a result of his 7 years as a district level administrator, 5 years as a classroom teacher and 4 1 /2 years as a COO of an educational service agency prepares him well to serve the Mequon-Thiensville community.
What was said: “Jason is the brother-in-law of Paul Buzzell. I’m sure the district will say this is not of concern or conflict of interest, but I’m not sure I want board matters discussed over the dinner table. They are running on the same ticket which means they think alike. I believe it is important to have diversity of thought on our school board and I don’t think electing family members together will do that.”
✅ Fact: Jason and Paul are brother-in-laws. This does not mean they don’t have independent thought. For this very reason Jason and Paul have not collaborated on question responses or developed a joint platform. They do though share a common belief that strong schools support strong communities. As a result they are supporting each other’s election to the school board. Once elected that independence will continue in service to the community.
