Today our Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade scholars went to the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Libary to celebrate Read For The Record, a worldwide literacy program. On this day every one reads the same book on the same day. This years book was “With LOTS of LOVE” by Jenny Torres Sanchez and it was read our Memphis Mayor elect, Paul Young. The scholars also received popcorn, water and a backpack with books and supplies. The scholars were also able to enjoy a performance from singers and dancers. We had such a successful Hispanic Heritage Month Program on today. Thank you to our adoptor, The Shriner Club, for making it possible for teachers to experience the Hispanic culture with treats. Along with parents that made treats for the teachers. We would like to also thank the parents from the Mariachi Band for the musical selection they performed for our scholars. Help us in congratulating and welcoming Coach Ronald Brown as the new Patriot Basketball Head Coach.
Coach Brown was born in Memphis and graduated from Raleigh Egypt High where he played Varsity Basketball. He was a McDonald’s All-American Nominee his Senior year. He is an experienced Basketball Coach with over six years motivating and developing student athletes to foster their competencies, and gain new beneficial skills to realize their greatest performance levels in the game of basketball. In addition to serving as an educator, he coaches on the The Nike Elite Youth Basketball League(EYBL) for the Local National Powerhouse Team Thad.
