Internationally renowned dancer and former New York City Ballet company member Myrna Kamara is one of the many inspiring Master Guest Artists traveling to Memphis to mentor at New Ballet's Summer Intensives and choreographing an original work for Summerdance on June 17. Young dancers are encouraged to audition for Summer Intensives for a chance to train with this international star.

Welcome back to New Ballet, Maxx Reed! The talented alumnus of both New Ballet and Broadway returns home for a one-week residency to choreograph a new work for this year's Springloaded production.

Working with Kim Jones has been an incredibly enriching experience for the students, apprentices, and teaching and performing artists! The artistic director of Movement Migration and former Martha Graham company artist spent a one-week residency in Memphis mentoring teaching artists and students while setting an original work to the score of Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert.

We ❤️ our alumni- all of you! New Ballet grads cane out to see colleague, @lilbuckdalegend in : The Show @orpheummemphis and 13 @btwmemphis students joined them! Their first time in the Orpheum was to see a dance from their hometown, and they cheered for their neighborhood, South Memphis, in the cipher.

What a weekend! New Ballet Ensemble is proud of stars, Breana Moore and Charles Lil Buck Riley performing on stages in TN, one in a nationally recognized company and the other producing a show headed for B’way. As students await their turn stage, those who set the standard (and spring from their home), demonstrate that believing in themselves … and the possibilities in front of them and working hard, can lead to careers as both academics and performers, even producers!

Calling all experienced dancers! Join us Mondays at 10 a.m. to train and practice with the great Michael Medcalf, professor of dance and theatre at @uofmemphis. This class is for adults with previous dance training who are looking to stay in shape, continue training and refine their technique. Classes are $15 each. Walk-ins welcome! No registration or commitment required.

❄️ UPDATE❄️ Due to weather conditions and no electricity, all New Ballet classes are canceled today, Feb. 4, and tomorrow, Feb. 5. Classes will resume at their regularly scheduled times on Monday, Feb. 7. Stay warm and safe out there!

In recognition of , we honor the dancers of our past and present who broke racial barriers in the dance world. Among them is the late Mel Tomlinson who was a trailblazer. New Ballet is grateful for the times he shared his passion and gift with our students, inspiring them to follow the path he created.

We offer our appreciation to SCS School Board members for putting students first. We are honored to teach students in Districts 1 and 9 on a weekly basis and to perform for students all over the city and county. Even in these challenging times, students are making it into safe spaces where education, food and whole child services are provided. We support the leadership in their efforts and thank our funding partners for valuing the arts. New Ballet students are mission driven, building leadership skills while rigorously training.
