Our Story
Mechele Rodgers has over 20 years of experience working inside preschools as well as owning them. In October of 2001 the LORD placed a desire in her heart to not only work in a preschool, but to move down the path of ownership. In January of 2002, Mrs. Rodgers began Cordova Christian Learning Center, on Bonnie Lane in Cordova. The center was committed to providing Christ-centered, quality-driven childcare, in an area of town that sorely needed it.
In just a few short years, Mrs. Rodgers began to outgrow the location on Bonnie Lane, and began praying and asking the LORD what the next steps held for her. Soon the LORD opened a door with Cathedral of Praise church located on Macon Road in the heart of Cordova. In 2009, Cordova Christian Learning Center became Cordova Christian Academy as it expanded to over 300 students with plans to add elementary classrooms up to 6th grade. In 2012, Mrs. Mechele began to search for an additional site to possible expand Cordova Christian Academy.
The LORD laid on her heart to sell the Cordova Christian Academy location, and open a school catering to preschool-age in the area near FedEx World Headquarters near Germantown, TN. Cornerstone Learning Center opened its doors in the late summer of 2012. Within a year, the school was at full capacity of over 160 students, additionally servicing over 40 school age children in the Germantown area.
In 2017, a sewage line burst and flooded Cornerstone. After losing everything the school was blessed to find a new home at Germantown Baptist Church. We are so thankful to the church for opening their doors and welcoming us.
